Yo... I was wondering if anyone has found a way to trigger the pads in the pattern banks from an external source. It would be lovely if I could make this happen. Basically, use my DAW as a "song mode" and 2 track recorder :) Then I can be free fly around the sampler using effects n mutes n things like that.

yeah man, you can plug a MIDI cable from your DAW into the 404 and control all the pads from the computer.

ya, I tried this. I can trigger samples all day... but not patterns. I know a fair amount about midi. When it comes to the keys. But not so much when it comes to triggering parameters in a sequencer. Know what im sayin ?

yeah i feel you, but god it would have been nice to trigger patterns! anyone got the start/stop feature to work? manually triggering patterns on the 404 but synced to a daw..

Coudl you press pattern select, then trigger the pad that holds the pattern?

You're simply triggering a location on the sp.

Did you try this?

this does not work 'cos you're not triggering the pad. you are triggering the action of the pad. so even though the pad is assigned to do something else(read: trigger patterns) your midi will still do what it is assigned for triggering a sound. its like turning on caps lock on a computerkeyboard its still the same pad but it triggers something else...
