this is gonna be hard for me to explain, but here goes:

i have three different drumbeats of four measures each that are to be sequenced together, each starting at a different interval. when i set my 404 up for 4 measures at the appropriate bpm and everything's good to go... i start the sequencing process but for some reason after each 4-measure drumbeat finishes, it's followed by four measures of silence before starting back at the first measure again. i've tried doubling and halving the bpm, setting the 404 up for 2 measures instead of 4... nothing works. it's driving me nuts.

any ideas?

press the pad that you have our sample on.. i guess the "loop" button will flash.. pres the loop button once to turn off looping.

every 4. bar your pattern will trigger your sample but if it is set to looping the second trigger will turn it of, u see?

Yeah, I would check Roland's website for a firmware update, it that doesn't work call Roland interrogate them about it, if you spend $400 bucks on something it should work right, fuck that!.

Really, if you have sample on loop in the 404 and then sequence it, it will turn off on the second pass?

it did in this situation. only thing it didn't solve is - being that this is three layers of drums, syncopated - when i first hit the pattern pad, it starts off playing just one, then the second comes in, and then finally the third and from then on they all continue. so i'll just have to do a fade-in or something for now, i guess.

Isn't that what you wanted?, I thought you were trying to get them to start at different intervals, it seems like having three drumloops play over each other would create problems like them not staying synced properly, I guess I don't understand what you are trying to do.

yeah the sequencer works like u are pushing buttons right. so if the sequencer press a button once it would be like u pushed the button, turning the sample on. but if u press the button again while a sample is looping u would turn it off.. the same thing is with the sequencer..

Never mind I'm retarded, it all makes sense now. I thought he had the sample set to loop and when the sequencer came back to the first measure his loop turn off, kristoffer1989 you explained it much better I guess.

yeah, that's what i'm doing. and it's great after that first measure now, but for that first measure i have to wait for the second and third drum tracks to come in before they all start playing together at once. i was sorta hoping that since when you record a pattern it loops on top of itself so you can overdub, that even the first measure would have all three drum tracks already bashing away. but that is not the case.

but whatever, i'm happy that it's working now. and yeah, i'm not very good at explaining this shit at all. sorry bout that.

I've never had any such problem so it all sounds strange to me, if I layer three sounds even drumloops they play at what ever point I had pressed the button when recording the sequence, the only time I had a problem with a sound not playing is when I exceeded the polyphony with too many samples.
