sp404 is great for lowend theory basslines, otherwise i'd have a hard time making a bassline w/out other gear

Hi Nym..sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but how do you make your basslines without any other gear? Do you mean from audio samples and pitchshifting via resampling?

well, if your sample has a good low end you can use the isolator and or eq and simply resample the original sample and then play it overtop. limited, but it can sound good, esp w/ the sp404's processing.

i'd like any other tips on bassline creation solely on the sp404 though if anyone else has em.

A combination of the subsonic fx (balance fully set to processed sound) resampled through the filter/isolator and the vinyl-sym can give some down dirty bin-shaking bass sounds, unfortunately there is no 12 level function on the 404.

sounds like bassline creation on the 404 should be a topic unto itself

however, programming drums on it was very interesting. it was like making a ship in a bottle compared to the mpc -- and i loved it.
