Don't fool yourself. iOS is still the place to go if you are serious about mobile music. This thread has a list of like 10 android apps, but if you were to just list the big apps from MAJOR devs/companies for iOS it would be 4 times the size easily. Korg, moog, yamaha, steinberg, Native Instruments the list of big companies goes on. Still the biggest drawback of android and music making is the latency issue.

I know there are great things for android and I'm not trying to be hater. I just wanted to post some info for others who might be interested in learning more about what is going on in the mobile music scene and why is seems like there's a shortage of android music apps compared to iOS.

On android you won't be seeing things like this. :(
Hardware/software designed with the device in mind.

The last thing I wanted to share about the power of iOS music making is an example of how I've had my mobile setup done in the past.

iPad > usb/dock/dongle > 4 port USB hub > Behringer ufo202 interface > m audio UNO > USB Memory card reader > Korg Nano key.

The M audio uno goes out to a Yamaha midi expander so I can use iPad to midi control 8 external hardware machines using the sequencer from Beatmaker2.

Behringer interface is plug and play for sampling directly into Beatmaker2

Korg Nanokey/Nanopad midi controls Beatmaker

USB card reader allows me to bring files into my iPad workflow from other machines/computers or back up files from my iPad.

No work arounds. All off the shelf plug n play stuff. Most of it I had already. I haven't used my iPad lately because when I repaired my cracked screen I blew a transitior that regulated the charging for the battery. So now it has to be plugged in 24/7 until I can get a replacement.

all valid points ^ 8)

I still mess with ios for sure (DUBSIREN! SAMPLETOY!), but for my minimal setup I just needed a file browser and sd card capabilities. oh and a bankrobber port. anyone keen to attempt that yet?

on the korg tip tho I got the DS-10 running on android with a Nintendo DS emu woooooooo

I'm loving my iPad. Unlimited fx, synths, sequencers, samplers out there, and all at your fingertips. But, I wouldn't rule out trying a droid tablet, IF there's something iTunes/Apple doesn't have. I see them in pawn shops sometimes. Kind of depends on what it would go for and what I could get it to run that I can't on my iPad.

Ohhh shit BTW, $3 Bluetooth audio receiver into your 404? Wireless sampler! I got no idea about Bluetooth audio quality tho, off for more caveman research.....

try walking away with the tablet while it's connected via BT to your sp input.. the packets slow down and you get a natural djfx effect :)
