Yo!

Just a Little question:
does your volume pot make that crackle Sound too when you turn it?

I got 404sx and 404og, both volume pots crackle, but the sx crackles wayyy more (i bought it new, max. 1/2Year ago) than the og.

Anybody else with the same "Problem"? It's not really a big deal but Kind of annoying... (i can hear it through both the Output and headhphone jack). Just wondered if i should send it to fix (still got guarantee for more than a year) or live with it.

peace. scopebeats

The volume knob on my 404sx crackles too (since day one), but I live with it.

Mine has since I got it. Around the 1-3'oclock position.
Maybe some contact cleaner/deoxy would work but I haven't tried yet.

Potentiometer knobs and crackle are almost synonymous... all pots get oxidised over time so the best thing to prevent it is to use them often. Turning them regularly... if thery're at the crackle-stage wiggle them a hundred times or dismantle and clean with some... cleaner.

Prevention is better than cure ;-)

Mine crackles too. It's not really a big deal since you are not supposed to touch it when it's adjusted to the desired volume. I personally don't so I'm cool with it :D

I use the volume knob extensively live and the scratchiness is a huge hinderance.

I'd like to use spay contact cleaner on the pot rather replacing the pot. It would appear though that newer Roland vol. pots don't have an opening in which to spray the cleaner.

Does anyone have any experience with this or have suggestions?

Thanks, PB

Check out deoxit 5 for cleaning pots. I use it for my electric guitar/bass, and just recently had to use it on the arrow buttons on my mpc1000. Many YouTube vid on it.
