so today i was getting crazy with the DJFX looper muhahaha. No but i didnt do anything over the top. I rocked it like i normally do and all of a sudden while i was twisting it it just felt like something broke?/got loose?/ snapped?

i dont know what happened exactly it didnt effect the sound coming out of the sp.

But my control knob 3 now has a loose feeling(i.e it kind of shakes in its little pot or whatever) and kind of feels rough at times when turning it.

Has this happened to any other sp users knobs?

Does the knob feel broken?
Or does it come off-beat when you turn the effect off?

I notice that sometimes using the DJFX looper, it comes off-beat.
I just got my 404sx two weeks ago, and it's possible I may be using the effect wrong, but I think I can relate with you.

I get around it by just using the MFX Bpm joint. That 1 always comes back on-beat.

The knob just feels loose and wobbly. So far i havnt come across any problems with the way it effects the sound but im just hoping it doesnt all of a sudden come off.

Yo i just had the same problem starting today.
All 4 of the knobs on my 404 had a tight base/structure
until today when I pulled my jawn out of it's anvil case.

It's ctrl knob 3, feels a little looser, or wobblier than
the rest of the knobs.

I use the MFX a lot, but dam dude, I got my 404 like 2 weeks ago (new).

The MFX/Ctrl knob function still work perfect, just the knob
itself is loose.

yeah i havnt had any problems with the effects or anything so im thankful for that. THe knob just feels loose. I got my sp last february.

Sometimes i go a little overboard when playing around with the BPM looper haha

my ctrl knob 1 spiins forever and my ctrl 3 clicks half way turning it, it took a decent beating and is still ticking tho, i used to ground it all the time to a turn table, or to a mixer. i would leave the ground screw unscrewed, and this caused a hard core power short, but magicly when i tightened it, I never had the problem again. I pretty much dont use the knob that spins forever and need to get the pot replaced i think but have no clue, I know theres mad threads about it, but im a lazy basterd.

@HeatVision that's exactly my thing too. The bpm looper. It's scary though. I've only had it for less then a month. I'm going to find out where to send it for repairs. I say in the 404sx manual that it mentions something about repairs, so I'ma get it fixed up before my warranty is done haha.

So I found a spot here by my crib that repairs the pots (knobs).
A little pricier than I expected, but eff it. I'm getting free because my 404sx's
still in warrentee.

I don't know if you live in LA, but it costs 120$ w/o warrantee.

sorry to bring up old threads.. but this exact thing has happened to my cntrl knob 4! is there a way to tighten it at home or do i need to send it to someone? my 404 is also like a month old. gaah.

Another kid here with a loose CTRL KNOB 3!!

Now that I'm inspecting my knobs, I see my ctrl 3 knob is way looser than the other knobs. definitely from using djfx looper and delay(mostly)


Bought my 404sx off of Daisycutta and I don't think its under warranty anymore.

So please share with us if you know how to tighten these knobs and save us all some cash!!

Same problem here.

It's not really a "problem" yet since everything works fine and the fact that the ctrl knob 3 is looser does not affect that much the way the knob is used.
The thing is I am scared as hell that I could find myself ripping the knob off my SP any minute (it feels so fragile now!).

Some time has passed since your last post in this thread so I would like to ask: have you eventually fixed this problem? If not, did it get worse over time or it just got stationary?
