Hey, I just got a 404 og and coming from the SX, I'm a bit confused about the workflow. What do you use the RAM(bank A-B) for? Do you load your samples pre-chopped into it? I already miss Exchange and copy but there has to be workarounds. Like the effects layout in the OG better though. It's cool that "pitch" is where "voice trans" is in the SX. Anyways, thanks for any tips.

I use these banks for building a card's worth of samples from other cards. Let's say you have a bank C of drum samples on one card, and you exchange all the samples so they are now in bank B. Then put a fresh card (maybe it has other samples you want to use with those drums)in and transfer them back. Now you have all your stuff where you want it without having to drag and drop on your computer. This is how I organize my set when I play live.

These internal banks are also useful for the copy pattern workaround (search "FlyLo trick")

thanks for the tip. Yeah, I like the workflow better with the OG. I really like the fact that I can put one shots in A_B and whole tracks or stems(parts) in the other banks on the card. And for production, as you said, switching between cards. I put an ad on Kijiji to get cheap small CF cards like 32 or 64 mb just to archive short samples like only snares or hihats. I like that idea.

BTW, question: is it me or the timestretch is a little better on the SX?

Another thing that is so cool about the 32mb cards is that you can put them in the MPC and import 404 samples! no generation loss... learned that from Wax Inspektor.

I had an SX for a couple weeks and I do agree about the time-stretch. also remember a couple FX sounded better, most noticeably pitch.

never had sx but you can move sounds in the OG too. just press del+rec, select the pad that needs to be moved and then the pad where you want to move it to.

display will say CHG :)

don`t know if you can also exchanged, never tried... just found out about this, until now i used to resample pads from one bank to another :)))
