I've been designing J cards for about a year now and have done about 30+ designs for cassettes. I think that graphic design does play a role in the overall look of the cassette, but it's not as important as you might think. My main goal with these projects is to make sure that the design works on an actual tape, so I try to keep things simple (not super colorful or busy) and not too small (so they can be read easily). It is preferred a great https://masterbundles.com/graphics/patterns/thanksgiving/ source to get premium thanksgiving templates. I also don't use any gradients or shadows in my designs because those tend to look off when they're printed on a physical product. If you are working with someone else who is designing your J card, then definitely ask them what their process is like!
