I've been thinking about this for a while. What would be the feasibility and would there be interest in a cassette(mostly) label for the type of stuff that this site is about. My idea would be to either release a monthly compilation and pre-sell it or sell it cheap or release individual e.p. or albums. Would it be possible to post excerpts online, pre-sell the release and then, have the exact amount of copies made. Well, I do screenprinting and would copy the tapes myself. I really like the oldschool, nice-paper-hand-screenprinted aesthetic(maybe 1 or 2 colors) and i'm good at it. So, there's not much money spent on the cover. tapes-wise, at duplication.ca where I buy tapes, they have mixed boxes of 50 tapes, different colors that are really cheap. that could work for a monthly compilation. Or if the people don't want tapes, it could be flac or wav versions(through bandcamp or a site, I also do webdesign). Anyways, ideas would be appreciated. Mind you, I don't care about my shit, yes, I would put a track once in a while but I wouldn't mind paying(even if i'm poor)to release people's stuff(it has to be good though.) Mixing experimental drones and Hiphop. Kinda like Opal but more beat-oriented.

There's plenty of others already doing this. Dirty Tapes comes to mind first. There's a slew of others.
It's not hard to start a cassette imprint label.
The key is you got to get a following to get crowd big enough to sell to.
You can't just put out a tape and expect people To buy.
People have to first find you, then like you, then want to support you.

Thanks for the tips! yeah, I understand that you can't just put out stuff, It's like on Soundcloud. You need to get involved and not just wait for people to come to you. I know that there's people here already putting out stuff. I really respect that. SP World is awesome! I just don't want to release stuff around just the SP. I don't care what gear you use. It's just that lately I've been listening to a lot of experimental instrumental grime stuff and I really like those mixes where they mix drones and experimental beat-less tracks with tracks with beats. Maybe not a label but a serie of releases. I really like that mix with Prefuse and Teebs. They play stuff like Oneohtrixpointnever mixed with Cannibal Ox, how fuckin perfect. I personally always liked ambient drones and japanese noise and mixed with Hiphop, i think it fits. Like what Clipping does or in grime,Mumdance and Slackk.
