youtube it. Check out Warren "Hanna", that dude is quick with the MV. And his turbo start videos are more entertaining than the one Roland provides. 4 times I tried to watch it, and 4 times I fell asleep, Mike Acosta's lessons are too relaxing.

There's even an official dvd by Roland for both models called the Training Tutorial, and you can get that anywhere that sells dvds.

Congrats on your new piece, I just got mine too and I'm in the stages of whipping and taming the beast. Gotta alot to learn.

Peace

Yeah, but it won't go in very deep at all, it's more like a Turbo Start kind of thing.

In any case, check out the following workshops and stuff:

http://www.mvnation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=8903

( one word of advice, don't EVER run Windows Media Player, winAMP or any other type of music player whenever your MV is hooked up through USB to your computer. This will cause major issues, because of the typical library software that wants to index the MV's hard disk, thinking it's a normal drive. You risk losing your samples and project data. )

:) Yeah man, its not that hard. When you sample and edit a phrase you can assign it anywhere, just remember the Patches are your kits for drums or one shots and Audio Phrases are for those 2 to 4 bar type samples or even a whole 3 minute musical passage.

I'm still trying to get down with the 8 track mixer, its kind of like the VS series. I want this to be the only piece in my studio, along with a turntable and mic preamp of course, plus monitors. The SPs and the rest of my gear I was thinking of making a mini studio in my bedroom.

Oh yeah, before you import from a cd, its best to write down the time passages of where you want to sample. The Preview mode doesn't display the time clock, however you can access the cd player within the MV and you can monitor the time clock there and then import what you like.

Peace.

Yeah man, that's exactly right. Consider me a true fanboy if you wish, but in my opinion it's really super intuitive and straightforward. I'm quite sure most SP cats will have almost no problems adjusting to the MV's work-flow. :)

Most people who don't feel comfortable behind the MV, are the ones either stuck in thinking 'it should have been an MPC' or the ones not daring to really put some effort in it. Most people will understand the very basics within hours or days, not weeks or months. 8)

you gotta mix it down first to a wave file. then you can connect the mv to your computer and use it like a hard drive. just copy the file out of your mv folder to the computer folder.

or you can just create a cd and add the song to the cue sheet.

Oh by the way, I think we probably should re-introduce the MV battles to these forums when this trend of more people buying an MV continues. :D
