Hey guys. When I turn my data wheel fast it will go the direction i am turning it for 5 or 6 spaces then it will go backwards like 3 units. I took the wheel off and cleaned the pot pole, there was some junk in it. Has this happened to anyone else? I am guessing this is not normal, my mc1k did not have this problem. Let me know what you guys think and if you have had this problem. Thankx

Does it work normal after you cleaned it ? Mines been acting just like that from the beginning (it was used), need to clean it too. I heard a bunch of people complaining about this, so I guess it is common problem of dirt collecting on the sensor. But the faders are even worse, they didn't put dust covers (small brushes) under them and they've been changing values for me constantly after they collected a lots of dust inside.

The MV definitely needs to be cleaned often to prevent this from happening, a gentle approach instrument I might say! :)

I was a little better after i cleaned it but it is not 100% fixed. I guess it is a common problem.

So far, this has not happened for me, but my crib is quite clean. I am sure it's sort of normal when dust gets in the MV though.

Olby is right Roland should have added some dust covers / brushes in the faders as I often hear people have issues with dirty faders not working properly.

Cleaning up fixes that for most though.

do you guys cover your stuff up when not in use? i throw bandanas over my stuff when im not using it and they help a lot.. its not the perfect way of protecting y9our stuff but judging by the stuff that collects on the cloth it helps more than i thought it would.. then again theres an animal in my appt..

I've got no animal in my apartment and do not cover my MV, but I really should.

I do have a brand new MV though, so before it will be really dirty, it'll take some time.

I do use a vacuum cleaner and wipe dust with anti-dust cloths, so while I'm not covering it, I do clean it quite regularly.

Haven't had any faders, knob or data wheel issues yet. :)

Yo fellas. I have been working n my MV more again, and the F*&$ing jog wheel is giving my lots of trouble. I took the wheel off today and the pot seems to jiggle a little bit in the housing. I don't think that it is a soldering issue but it may be. I don't want to tear the mv apart but im getting close to doing it. Has anyone replaced the pot for the jog wheel? Mochas Gracious Fellas!

That sounds pretty serious, I'd be very careful when taking things apart for sure. Can't help you with replacing it though, sorry.

I did once replace one jog wheel from my MC-505, but I doubt that's the same deal on the MV.

Word, thanks PHe. It is not disastrous but it bugs the hell out of me.

Yeah man, I remember it totally killed the fun for me with my MC505.

I have to admit it also had a LCD screen that died on me and had to be replaced at unfortunately the same time, but at that time I really almost entirely lost interest in the machine. It sucks. :(

Anyhow, hope you'll get it fixed soon man. :)
