hi someone offers here in france his mv8000 (40 g + VGA) to change with an mpc1000 black (wich i got)...he says there is a button wich doesn't function well, but nothing bad... what do you think guys? how is big this MACHINE!??! (this is the only real trouble with the MVs i got) |

its big, i just got one on Wednesday and thats the first thing i thought, "Dam, its big". Especially compared to a mpc 1000. Imagine 4 of those positioned to make a square, thats like the size of a MV. And its height is like 2 1k's stacked on top of each other. I think thats the best i can do, dont have a ruler nearby. |

Its like 19" x 18" inches and about 5 or 6 inches thick. I actually created a little table from a footstool just for the MV. I like to play samplers low to the floor kinda like Linus from the Peanut Gang. |

That's too bad man, because it would have been a sick exchange. The MV8000 is awesome and can do a lot more than the MPC1k. If it's cash you want though, selling the MPC1k was probably the best option. Selling an MV8000 is a bit more difficult, especially with MV8800s going for cheap now too. |

Selling an MV8000 is a bit more difficult, especially with MV8800s going for cheap now too. thanx man i sold the mpc1000 and i bought an excellent mc-909 wich is, in my opinion, between an mc-505 and an mv8000, a machine able to doing things without a pc or a synth. the sequencer is very cool (sp505+mpc1000 or mv8000 -alone-); the synth is ok (is a groovebox), but it lets you layer 4 tones (also 4 samples!! -they are consider as patches-) to create crazy synths tones of your own; timestretching is ok; pitch is nice; auto sync is cool (think about sp505 pitch scale but in a better defined way-ok this is not VP9000 but it's "correct"); it has also sensitive pads, 2fx simultaneoulsy (sp606), usb connection for storage, spdif i/o etc if i remember well you had an mc-808 (or 909)? what do you think about it? |

I keep hearing that the MC 909 is so under-rated. I wish they were still cool machines so i could maybe bump into one at a local music store and check it out for myself. |

I remember wanting a MC-909 but the price at the time was too much (like $1,499.00 USD). Its got that dope pitch slider, its like sampling into a turntable because thats what it was based on...crate diggin' music. RZA used it on the production of Built 4 Cuban Linx. I still fucking want one!!! |

I still fucking want one!!! wow RZA uses also mv8000, isn't it? anyway i payed mine in good condition 400€, but i was lucky because normally here it goes away for 500/600€... ...and yes that slider is very cool! it reminds me my old remix16... |

Yeah, I had the MC-808. It was nice, but I couldn't quite get used to it's work-flow. To much key combinations to remember to do simple stuff. And that while I had mastered the MC-505 shortly before and knew that machine inside-out. Yet.. a lot of stuff had to be relearned and I had kind of given up before truly diving into that machine. The MC-909 is certainly a lot better when it comes to work-flow and control from what I hear and see from other people. It has more dedicated keys and works a bit more like the MC-505. It's a bit sad though, because everything else on the MC-808 is probably an improvement (except for the features it lacks in comparison to the old 909 of course). When it comes to the MC-808 and making music, I'm much more happy with the MV-8800 now. I have been looking at the MC-909 in the past, but I felt it was way too expensive back then. People asked a grand or more for it. The groovebox part always made jamming quite easy though. Those machines are loads of fun to mess around with. |

Those machines are loads of fun to mess around with. plus, for me, coming from the iper cheap rolad D2 (without pad, key,nothing! just a big -kaoss pad style-pad), you can imagine the difference. i think mc909 and mc808 are basically the same machine, just another "roland repackeging": the main differencse reside on the interface (very similar to mc505 for the mc909-and this is a BIG plus-, more similar to mc303 for the mc808) and maybe the storage (here the 909 is a little weak)... |

Yeah, I know what you mean. If I ever get a chance I'll probably get me a MC-909. They are hard to find these days though. I liked the MC-808 too, but I think I got put off by the somewhat steeper learning curve. I've seen plenty of people master it and use it to it's full potential. I'm pretty sure I haven't dug deep enough into that machine. You're right, when it comes to storage and being more up to today's standards, the MC-808 is probably a better choice. (Also comes with a pretty nice groovebox application for PC by the way.) |

I had an MC909 for 3-4 months ,it was really nice machine many features ,BIG display ,great easy sequencer,awesome pitch-shift,chopping, plus digital IO for my sp606(which I also sold it!) but I never liked the sound...too clean and glossy for me! One day I might try an MV8000 ,but it's too expensive for me since I only make some loops ,jamn and shutdown! |
