dude is definitely fairly well known, but that doesn't mean all his records are easy to find, i have his first two albums i believe, they are both in pretty rough shape, but i got em for a buck each, and they play fine, his version of grazin in the grass was one of his biggest hits i believe, that was one of the first 45's i ever bought

damn, your job sounds tight as shit, i often dream about being given money to go out and obtain copies of all sorts of ill shit on wax for some sort of funded collection of music, like some sort of state or federal funded project, do you just grab digital versions or do have to go out and get physical copies of albums?? either way it sounds dope

and you hardly recommend we check out that blog?? you mean highly?? i would assume so hahahaha, welcome to the forums!

fuck man, i gotta land me a gig like that, a media library huh?? so the records are then stored for public access at a library?? do you have any restrictions, like you cant spend more than a certain amount on a record, or like your only supposed to grab rare shit, or is it totally up to you what the funds are spent on??? that sounds like the life man, and you get paid to do this outside of the money thats given to you for collecting??

It's about everything man, and thats why its a bit difficult sometimes.
We have to buy (only 2 people care about music...like All Genres) everything: from classical to jazz or blues (only this is HUGE) and also world music (all countries), movie Soundtracks, independant rock or Mainstream F**** Black eyed peas, music for your baby, books cds for kids....everything
So yeah we store, classified by genres, alphabetical etc then people comes over and rent cds books dvds for a week or two then bring back and take others.
Its a very old one so we have tons of stuffs...like more than 20 000 cds
I think there are same amount of books

So i gotta choose by myself: what disserves, what's good to have, what's new & interesting, what's new and NOT interesting, established discography for composers / bands and check what we miss & if we should buy it etc etc
Also caring about what people wants, we are open to any suggestions BUT it doesnt mean we will buy it....ahahahah

And about the $, nobody comes to check what i buy as we are 2 supervisors and thats all. If a record is rare and expensive, we talk about it first
Actually its christmas so u have bunch of Boxsets shits &/or Best Of this that, so many people asked for it. So i just go into the Lib and give them Classics records from the artists and say: do your own best of, its more fun.

But yeah i buy everything, last week we went there and i get a lot of rare world music: Iran Funk to old drums from French caribbeans, drone music, Daedelus live at LowEnd etc etc etc
And im thinking of launching a kind of blog to communicate about digital & free LP....Will try to sort this next year

and yes i get paid for this job, also...people's smiles & feedbacks are priceless. Nothing is better than giving Gabor Szabo for the 1st time to a guitar fanatic...he will be back and say "do u have more of this???"
