Anyone got any good Jazz Fusion albums/songs they could recommend me? Something like Bobbi Humphrey's Blacks & Blues, if possible without many vocals.

Hot damn, Return To Forever is great. And I'm loving the music that the Mahavishnu Orchestra makes. But I need to find more of that with a little more solos and less drums.

terdje rypdal from ECM record is good. Headhunters, the group by herbie hancock, more jazz funk than fusion, also. and yes, miles davis "on the corner" great album too ("bitches brew" also).

the first handful of weather report albums are pretty essential jazz fusion records. also the first few john klemmer records are really dope fusiony psychedelic jazz records.

i dunno, jazz fusion is like prog rock. It can really easily turn cheessy/indulgent.

manfred mann chapter 3 was also a really dope psychedelic jazz fusion group, but their records are kinda of a pain to get a hold of. at least that's how it's been for me...anyone got some spare copies they wanna sell me?

^ Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Somewhere in Afrika, was one of the first albums I ever bumped... on the first walkman I got, back when I was like 6 yrs old. I found it in my parents collection of tapes and loved the shit outta that album. Still got it sittin around somewhere too. I think it was the bangin artwork that attracted me to it.

I haven't seen any Manfred Mann on vinyl tho.
