im seeing a lot of producers come out with Royalty Free samples arranged and made from scratch that you wont get sued for...Me personally... I don't think I can ever sample those... I know Jake one put out a few of them. what are your thoughts on using or not?

It all depends on the sample, really. If you can use it, use it. If it's not dirty enough, throw in on the fryer for a few minutes to cook it up before you serve it.

I say if it makes your head nod or it gives you ideas, go for it.

I think he's iffy on it because it's so widely available, sort of takes out of the whole beat digging process, everyone using the same sounds .

I personally don't or won't use them, but drums I'll take.

+1

Really, how is it different from any other sample-source, vinyl, cd, mp3, field recording, live gig, youtube, whatever - if it's a vibration that can be captured and processed (love the cooking metaphor) then shure..

Makes me sick, of course, that people are buying sample packs from futureloops or whatever and using them wholesale to create the latest paint-by-numbers, but certainly don't blame anyone producing them if they can make a few bucks..
