looking for some foreign (I'm from the US) records, South American records are usually easier to find than European, Russian, African, Indian, Middle Eastern, etc..

do you know of a shop in the US--online, or preferably in the North East US-- but anyplace with a nice selection that will work with out of state shoppers will do

thanks

A long time ago I came across this site called record kings..I know sounds corny, but they focus in large part on foreign records. A lot of really pricey stuff though. Blitz w vinyl rips are definitely a pretty good option when it comes to foreign stuff.

IMO record kingz is a bit of a joke, he very rarely sell a legitimate expensive record for a fair price, and he gets away with it because he has records that aren't easy for americans to come across/know about, which is acceptable i suppose if you have the cash and don't have the time/knowledge to know/learn about these records, but i'd suggest you browse there and then look up records on discogs and ebay to see if you could get it cheaper

the 'secret squirrel' records are especially corny (almost as corny as the record descriptions), cause they more often than not are relatively common records that you can get for fairly cheap, and he wants like 40-100 dollars or more for them!!! and you get all wrapped up in the dope soundclip and let your mind run away with thoughts of how dope and obscure it must be.....

i've read a couple different threads on different boards where people out the 'secret squirrel' records and they usually end up being records you can get pretty easily for pretty cheap

don't get me wrong, there ARE cases where he sells legitimately obscure and rare records for decent prices, just gotta do some research to find out which ones are worth it.......but i would definitely suggest you browse sites like that for ideas, listen to the soundclips, then just look on discogs and ebay (musicstack.com, cdandlp.com, and gemm.com also are good reference points) to see if you can find cheaper copies of records you are interested in that ship out of the US

Yea I'm sure you're right. I got next to no experience digging online,I just remembered coming across this site a couple times. Honestly I don't know the value of a lot of foreign records either so I don't really know what's considered expensive or not...even though any record above 2 bucks is expensive,to me. Lmao @ "secret squirrel" records.

yeah i am no expert myself, but i've just heard people go off on that site before (and others like him, a lot of ebay dealers that do the same shit), and through doing a little comparative shopping on my own i've come to the same conclusions, i mean, it's really a site for 'producers' that don't have the time/knowledge to go record shopping on their own to find stuff for the sampler, and i guess you pay for that........and his shit does seem to always be in pretty great condition, but its just not for me

but i do think it was a great recommendation in the sense that you can use that site to check soundclips and learn about records that have beats on em, then try and find them else where, especially cause that's what the site is specialized in, foreign records with beats and breaks for producers that goes beyond the well known and overused stuff

and yeah, that secret squirrel shit is a straight joke, that kinda stuff will always get the gas face

Yea I thought those secret records looked pretty sketchy from the first time I saw them,lol...also made me wonder if they could possibly be doing their own re-pressings,Idk..now that I think about it though,I think I only came across the site by googling where I could by physical copies of some records I found on blogs. So there's really something to be said for digging through blogs to find foreign joints when you have a limited budget. And we probably all have a pretty limited budget when it comes to foreign vinyl. I think the majority of record selling sites that deal w foreign stuff will be in the same vein as "recordkingz".

record kingz is a joke indeed.

discogs is the best. I just found out that USPS has doubled their prices though! Really fucked up for both sides.

Located in Maryland. Great prices and has shit all over the world. I usually go to them first when looking for a particular record. Its best to email them because sometimes they slow on updating their site but 8 out of 10 they have it in stock.

I got other places online, they are real record shops from Israel, Germany, England etc. But those are MINE!!!

moviegrooves.com has been my shit for a while. The site went down a few years ago but i just looked it up like 5 mins ago and its back. Fuck yeah! I bought a few records a while back but i used to sample the preview audio and grab some nice ass international shit. Grooves that were foreign to me like downtempo 1960's shit that you would find in old porn. Crazy soundtracks to italian films. Check it out.
