Awesome turnout. Lots of dope shit here from all the chefs. 4 day poll. Good luck. Winner will be deemed Iron Chef and will have to create the menu for the next round. Peace!

Despite not being a fan of Ramsey, I thought it was a great battle all around and for me it ended-up being a choice between 'asha c' and 'Isihambi'

On the one hand, as is often the case with Isihambi, I loved the way the track was produced. Has as a very professional feel to it. I think it's (very) catchy and pretty damn bad-ass all around!

On the other hand though, me being me, I loved the dark and foreboding tonality and vibe of Asha's track notably more than any other in the battle. As is often the case with Asha, it's the dark and musical-sounding vibe along wth the choice in sample usage that got my vote.

Green dutch: Usual Lofi goodness from your beats! Nice choice of samples, nice warble and foreboding vibe! Particularly liked the mid section with all the swells, nice build up!

1616: loved that rhythm and actually tried to use that loop on my first attempt but couldnt keep it as engaging as you did but knew it had potential! Liked how you layered the drums on too of the main rhythmic loop as well as the melody that crept in! Didnt notice the panning til i put earphones in! Nice touch

Isihambi: great intro with the gritty rhythmic scrapes! Nice choice of drum loop and absolutely loved the vocal scratching, how did you achieve that?

Kloor: nice use or the samples but felt it needed something more to give it a bit more oomph! Maybe like bass or a heavier synth!

Galochin: immediately loved the dark intro! Liked the rhythm but felt it was too pictched down! Also liked how you used the vocal snippets, very dark with nice reverb and pitch!

1616 and dutch close call! Going with 1616 though!

Haha, if he's using a MKII I'm pretty sure I know how he did it but I'm equally interested to hear what he says. The MKII is pretty cool for being able to pull-off slick, well-timed stuff like that, and come to think of it, there's a few ways you could go about doing that (depending on whether he used the hidden 303 shortcut or not) so I'm curious to know which one he used.

Incidentally, I didn't realise until a few days ago that the 303 Vinyl Sim has a compressor as well, and that compressor is the best one for getting that 202-style thing going on that Green Dutch does so well. So I haven't tried it yet, but having the 303 Compressor on the MKII makes me think that used in conjunction with the other FX busses, getting 202 fatness is possible as well.

Thank you, bro!
I did it using a turntable with a mixer and Serato DVS.
It's simple.

I find it easier to do it on a vinyl record
but I'll try to practice on MKII.

It's not an easy choice for me :?:
I really liked all beats.
I will vote for Asha C. It was amazingly atmospheric.

What is it like a vinyl record simulator? Or do you feed the youtube clip into the mixer?
Thanks for the voteb

I loaded Ramsay's phrase to Serato and reproduced it on the control vinyl.

Between Asha and 1616 was a difficult choice. 1616 had those dope drums over drums, but I went with Asha on this battle. I immediately was nodding my head to that beat Ash. Isihambi those scratches were dope good beat too. Galochin and Kloor very honorable entrees. Dope drums and rhythmic tracks. Thank you battlers this was a fun one.

Cheers mate, it's always nice to hear I'm appreciated for one reason or another!

That said, I've not produced anything (yet) so I can only assume it's because peeps love the way I push other peeps buttons. Either that or they share my often weird taste in music and movies!

Look into the new menu option for putting 'Reverse' into 303 mode, cause if you combine it with the actual 'Reverse' function and the 'Tape Stop' effect (used in both directions) that would give you one way to do it. Although we don't officially have a 'Tape Start' effect, we do have one if you reverse the sample first, use the 'Tape Stop' effect on it and then un-reverse the sample.
