Used every record in the haul, that was collected over a few days.

Most of the drums were from the "Two generations" lp which had a fair few open drums, rolls and a sweet break, there was also some open drums on the Ananta lp which I layered and I'm pretty sure there was also a break on the limbo maniacs lp.

Mostly just loops that I added effects for variation, the Carole King LP had the most useful loops. The "Amazonas plays Santana" LP had some nice bits of guitar and for one track I basically played the whole song through the sp and played the drums over it as it played.

The trippy sounds/beats are from the Ananta LP, Limbo maniacs provided the sample of the guy talking about getting high.

First track was from the Jimmie Rodgers LP and a there's few loops used from the art farmer lp that I purchased after I uploaded the photo.

Also used a clip of "The Edgar Winter Group: Frankenstein" from the old grey whistle test dvd (freakout jam at the end).

BBC sound effects I used bits from here and there as well as auld lang syne in its entirety for the end, didnt do anything other than add reverb on the SP but felt it worked wellwith the video which I was kindve editing at the same time as making tracks to fit certain clips.

Loved this challenge which introduced me to some great stuff I'll definitely check out in the future such as art farmer. The video editing took me ageeeees!!

@LoopMantra & @Asha C

You guys killed it! LoopMantra… killer mix and vibe! Thanks for the thorough description of tracks and production techniques! Love it dude.

Asha C... that video is nuts! The concept is sick, and you got a bunch of dope beats in there. You really did a great job of syncing the musical journey with the visuals.

The bar has been set!

I've got some catching up to do. I'm 5 songs in and have about 10 minutes of music. Got my process down now, so hopefully things cruise along pretty quick. How is everybody else doin?

I'm a little behind where I'd like to be, been slacking last couple days. Here's one of my favourites so far

https://soundcloud.com/iamslvg/so-sp-marathon-2019

Been making tunes during downtime on nightshifts using just my tapes and the 404 so far, mostly pattern sequencer.

Listening to LoopmantA's mix as I type this, real good man, totally crazy.

Important P.S.
My 404 batteries died during a pad exchange and my SD isn't being read by the sampler. Any Ideas? Would hate to have lost all those samples.
Copied all the samples onto my computer, is loading them back on 1 by 1 through bank robber my best bet?

Bummer. I think you are right. If you have the samples, at least you can load them back on individually.

Been lowkey working on this, some 'fullmarathon' flips but a lot of drums and some synth from the op1 i bought recently for some half-marathon results. Here's the source-material - most bought out of the dollar bins, a couple 2$ rex in there too but within budget if we are using the $15 limit this round.

Not sure if this fell thru the cracks or what, but I still plan on makin a mixtape for this :mrgreen:

For years my life revolved around music.... I spent all of my time focused on music production & it was wearing me down, affecting my passion & love for it. I realized I needed balance in life, so earlier this year I started doing other things, like hanging out with friends, drawing, painting, I got a significant other, basically living life in a more balanced way.

I still play a lot, but haven't completed ANYTHING. I started a few projects & worked on some battle beats, but didn't finish. Still...it's been fun & I noticed I'm actually coming up with more creative & interesting stuff since I started taking time away from it, but I really want to FINISH something & this mixtape marathon has been in the back of my mind since it started.

So that's my plan, gonna focus on creating this mixtape!!! This weekend I'm gonna finish buying the vinyl for it then I'm gettin to work :P

I'm getting excited just typing about it :!:

I finished buying vinyl last night & I sampled it all into the 404sx.

Gonna have a lot of fun this weekend working on this :mrgreen:

I'll upload pics of the vinyl later, spent $14.00.

Hey Sharris! Wishing you a weekend of imperturbable and unparalleled concentration in working on your mix!!
Been waiting some time now for some new Marathons since Loopmantra, ASHA and I.. ghost bazz who kicked off this whole thing, SLVG who dropped the bumpingest teaser, yourself..
If I've understood you right, you spent last night chopping samples and then you sleep on it? I used the same method: went through all the records I bought in one sitting just grabbing cuts and filling banks, then by the time I go back to bank one I start hearing new music from the chops 'cause of had time to forget the original tracks. Also enjoyed working fast fast and making a sh*t-ton of microwaves... Final mix was 12 whittled down from 18-20.

Looking forward :)))

@Sharris
I've been going through a similar thing, been spending less time than I'd like with beats lately, things with my band got busy, so creatively I'm somewhere else. Been trying to get a better paying job too.
Been thinking about this every time I see my pile of tapes I scooped for it.
I'm gonna get back on this soon, was having a lot of fun with it.
Let's all still finish the project when time is good.

Hey I looked thru the thread and maybe I missed it, but is there a date when these are due? Been thinking of hopping in but don't want to get started if it's ending in a few days
