SP Fam welcome to the BeatBattle no. 281 !

here are some classic funky drums, you probably all know and love :

https://soundcloud.com/user-853604300/drums-spbb-281

(The Headhunters "God made me funky" / Charlie Whitehead The Swamp Dogg Band "Let's do it again / Synthetic Substitution "Melvin bliss")

And here's the sample you gonna be using :

I decided to go simple for this round, but at the same time to stretch us out a bit - as in, you get tons of harmonies to pick from, but only one instrument (with the exception of adding your own - see "rules") though since it's Jaco, it sounds like he's playing keys as well :D
Wanna hear you tweak those SP efx and create wizardry.
So, here are the

RULES :
- Use only the samples provided + you can use ONE extra instrument (guitar,bass,keys... etc)
- Use only SP (multiple SP's and track mastering ENABLED)
- Acapella / Rapping ENABLED
- NO TIME LIMIT

Poll goes up Sunday Jun 16
HAVE FUN !!

Dope.

For the "extra instrument"... can this be sampled, or do you mean our own performance of an additional piece of gear/instrument?

Your own performance on some instrument yeah :) you can sample a piece of it ofc, don't have to play it throughout

Did 2 beats, I first attempted to make them one track but I couldn't get it to work!with added guitar, sampling parts and then playing it over on other parts. I

Alright, here's what I came up with :

https://soundcloud.com/user-853604300/i ... ut-spbb281

I used Synthetic Substitution's "Melvin bliss" drums
Everything else (except the vocals ofc, that's DJ Krush feat. Tragedy "Real") came from Jaco's track.
Did everything while on the road, and used SP 404sx and headphones only.
Guess that's why it's a bit muddier than I'd wish for, but it doesn't matter. Didn't want to master it either, just compressed it a bit.
Asha C - man, did the same thing :D made two beats, not really that different though so I eventually glued them. The second part of the track I came up with first, but felt like I needed some intro or something.
Those are some wicked tracks brother, just heard them. Great job.

hey guys and girls,
nice to be back with the next round. it turned out to be also a split track, like ashac and loopmantra (i listen to them later but like to read how you processed while i'm sp404ing).

https://soundcloud.com/blowm/spbb-281-super-silver-haze

i was on a travel trip and the first beat was crippled (the last 5 sec). Than i jumped on the subsonic and made the beat at the beginning. i was around with my old friends, one of them showed me an ig-video of ufo361 a german druglord. i sampled that clip. that's why it's called "super silver haze". tried to nail down the mfx-12-style a little more. the second beat was my reup on the train. but i couldn't fit the bpms so i kind of blended them togehter. then just comped everything and bam. (maybe a little overcompressed at the "mastering"? let me know what you think)
ah, i recorded the whole track to my tascam and sampled it back, rerecording it with all the efx on my sx. and then added a synth to part a and part b. some reverby shit to expanse with 2-3 notes. in my head i've had a phat trumpet set to put on but could'nt play... yeah, beatmaker, right.
have fun, see you on the next one!
