Thanks guys! Here's the new battle.

There's only one sample this time; the full album "A Sucked Orange" by Nurse With Wound. Plenty of stuff to resample into oblivion

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bfmrcFOp6I

Rules:

No outside anything
Only one SP
Outside EQ/compression OK on final mix only
Acapellas/Rapping OK (encouraged)
Must use some form of pitchshifting

The deadline 5/19 9PM EST.

PEACE! -k

This....was an ordeal xD

https://soundcloud.com/user-853604300/r ... urnspbb279

I guess my main issue was drum sounds, I'm really not that experienced when it comes to chopping weird sounds and turning them into kick/snare, and I didn't want to use the sounds from the last track, so I really spent a lot of time looking for something to start with, but I heard some sweet percussion sounds ("Nasal Hair" track) with a bit of weird cymbal trails hanging in there - and I did a take playing with them, around 2 minutes long give or take, resampled it with a bit of chorus, looped it, and started there.

Kick and snare I created from the track "It just ain't so" - EQ'ed the sounds, and did a take playing them on top of previous one, with percussions and bells.

And here's where I fucked it up xD

I was doing all this in hope of resampling this whole take with subsonic on, to get a bass line consistent with the kick, but I just couldn't make it work the way I wanted to, so I just played the track with subsonic on and without changing the pitch during the resampling.
Got a sweet kick that way tbh, but was kinda hoping for a bassline out of it.
I took the hi hats from the "Scissor Rock Bicycle Revelation" track, and recorded playing them on top of the previous take.
Then I resampled the entire track fiddling with the radio tunning efx, adding a bit of harmonic overlays and static to the track here and there.
Finally I chopped the vocals off "Raymond Cries A River" track, and resampled everything playing with the vocals.
I only used the "ultramiximizer" plug in on my PC to even put the levels a bit, and that's about it :)
Hope you'll like it.
I really enjoyed it
Peace

Much like loopmantra i found getting the drums difficult and would have liked to have been able to create some more "standard" type drums but managed to pull a few percussive parts out, eq, compress and mess with start/end points.

Used massive attack: teardrop vocal with the pitch effect on and used a load of other random percussive sounds from the nurse with wound track in the background as well as using the droney chords as a main part.

This album is horrible, scary.
When I'm listening this kind of music I imagine someone kidnapping people and locking them into a room with this music.
I tried to make a beat from this tho. It was a challenge.

just my SP-202 and the 404sx compression during the recording. Hope thats cool. Hard battle to find drums to use for the 202, but when I saw pitch shifting I just wanted to use it ha

Hey guys! Long time no see.
Well, that was quick and dirty. I used subsonic at a pitched down and filtered tom like part of the sample, for the kick.
I've chopped a lot of great percussive sounds, but didn't have the time to use them as I should, so here is a minimal pitchy thingy.

Thanks Kel for hosting and the dope samples.

All SP-404 > Resampled like 60 times > mush>into tape>audacity

This one was tough. I started off by layering foley sounds and various drum sounds. I tried to get what ever i could from the break at the end by time stretching it slow not caring as much about the artifacts. Spent the next couple days layering with different effects. Once i had a few drums i didn't hate i made a kit. resampled the kit at different volumes and with different effects so they would have variation. Resample slowly build up different parts on pads. Then i used the sad synth line from the third song. resampled to make different parts with subtle effects sweeps. built chunks of song. sprinkled in some more longer foley layered samples on top with various effects.made stupid intro. finished beat. slightly pitched, played with the feedback. vinyl sim.

not sure i like the outcome, but it was fun>
