Hi all, sorry for the delay. Got distracted by the film festival running here, but got some samples ready now.

Image

Rules are the same as usual:

Multiple SP's okay
External bounce okay
Outside instruments okay
DAW Mastering (EQ/Normalisation) okay
Outside samples NOT okay

VinylSim NOT allowed
DJFX Looper NOT allowed

Theres two files here:
https://we.tl/HcHee9gTtE is the sample, containing the track "Wake Up Morning Glory" by Tasha Thomas, followed by two sets of drums, one an intro, the second a drum solo. Use elements from all three sections in your track; as much or as little as you like, but these MUST be used in some way.

The second file:
https://we.tl/1JNVV34Brw is a fill and some drum hits I had in my 555, which are optional extras.

DEADLINE is Midnight Sunday 11 February 2018, Pacific Time.
Hope there's some fun to be had here..good luck evryone!!

Your pic totally makes me miss my 555! That one started it all for me... (nostalgia moment)

Great setup here. Question: are all vinyl effects excluded... or just the famed "VinylSim"? I'm thinking of the 808 specifically.

I thought we could use this battle as an opportunity to explore other effects by specifically avoiding what I'm sure (certainly at least in my own case) the go-to effects on the sp's.

Therefore: no 808 vinyl sim, no 303 vinyl sim-compression, no vinyl effects at all. All the samples in the first file are taken from vinyl so if you want to explore the crackle inherent in the samples you're all more than welcome!

And yeh, cheers, I love my setup. Don't need anything else ;)

My bit of fun. Added bassline from 808 synth.

Made this with 303+404sx. It was really hard not to use vinyl sim haha but cool to not use that crutch. I played a little bass line from my bass straight into the 404

Found this sample a bit tricky actually.. haha!

Found that by chopping between the kick hits I was able to pull out those little melodic synthy/guitary melodic bits that caught my ear in the first place.
Drum loop was constructed from the jazz solo breaks then layered with melodic chops before cementing with drum hits from the second file. Most work done on 808 and 303 with a bit of final mix effects in the final bounce master to 404.
