Here it is... off the b-side of Close to the Edge, from Yes. The track is titled "And You And I" and is made up of 4 movements. Hopefully something in there for everyone... Rock on! 8)

They always got some sick artwork. There is a gallery in SF that sells the original paintings. Very impressive. The file size on this mp3 is kindof big... lemme know if that's an issue for anyone. Happy choppin!

Right on... I know that track is about to get flipped 6 ways from Sunday.

As far as time on this one... we did 9 days for the last battle. We could do a week and open the poll next Fri, but then we'd be voting over the weekend as opposed to having that time to keep working... and I kindof like voting on Monday cause it makes the entry into the work week a lot more chill.

Let's say the battle closes a week from this Sunday. How does that work for everyone?

hiya
The idea of beat battle is pretty new to me, but I really like it.
I tried to make something out of this beat and finally I made it.
After hours of fighting with my sound card interface ( cuz it was my first time as I recorded things from an external device ) I finally finished the "beat".
Actually, I would'nt call it a finished beat, but only pack of samples combined together + drum loop added. I go on holiday today so dont have enough time to add e.g. some supah-doopah SP effects :P
So here it is, my first 'beat'. Sounds very unprofessional, but I hope you will forgive me :) At the end, I added some kind of extra content ( lol :) ) which consist of some nice ( in my opinion ) parts of the original song, not included in the 'beat'

this song is really dope, nice choice..i love fucking with 60's and 70's rock, and just listening to it,espescially psychedelic flavored stuff-rock from this era had a lot more soul to it than todays..and definitely more of a message in the lyrics.i'm surprised i've never heard this, its quite epic...i do have to take issue with the fact that its gonna be really hard or maybe impossible to get a hi hat out of that break without a cowbell on it.what i have in mind won't go too well with a happy ass cowbell.the snares and rolls are really ill though.less cowbell!

elhau-i just listened to your entry- i realize your just starting out and everything and you werent neccesarily trying to make a cohesive beat..but you really do have a few sequences in there with some nice creative chops--you just gotta turn those drums way up/samples down, keep at it man

To get a long jazzy hihat, take the snare and kill all the Lo and Mids and raise the Hi by the isolator and maybe add a bit LoFi. With that basic-sound, you could go in any direction to build a hihat that you like. (open hats and crashes are also possible...)

(Cowbellz are cooooo 8) )
