Hearing through all the tracks is a nice way to start the weekend So here's my thoughts: timmytoga - What a flip, there's like three or four styles going on here. You blended it well! Durdy - Quite a unique approach, outright danceable. Plus: best cover image! oja1991 - Sweet bass and good chops. Chess - Very well produced! That's a fire beat, albeit a bit too loopy after a while. MarcoGrouch - Yesss, such lo-fi! The beats are cool, but I kinda miss the connection between the parts :/ Doogs - Crazy shit, I like your way. And I didn't expect the switch up, well done! Green Dutch - Wow, pretty intense! Wouldn't want to listen to this on LSD IIIII - Makes me feel like sitting in the basement of a haunted house in Japan, also nice flow! last_try - I like that sci-fi grind and the transition sits perfectly. KingOfTheDrews - raw energy, rock-solid performance and a nice, flowing variety kevin - I'm a bit unsure, good approach, but maybe chopping things up some more would give the beat more drive. cobrastatus - That's some deep shit, I like the arrangement. mike - Whoat, right to the action! Good use of the effects and well chopped. blindfold - how the hell did you end up here? Aaaaand I'll give my vote to last_try! |

I had to go with the track by Last Try. I really liked the overall ambience of the track combined with the drums which sounded sort of like they were from an 80's drum machine or something. Great vibe to this entire track and I loved the depth of the samples in contrast to the drums. |

Dope round was hard to pick a winner. It was a toss up between oja1991, IIIII, last_try and Green Dutch. In the end I voted for oja1911 because I was vibin with this joint the most when I heard the tracks for the first time. Ill bass over nice sample choice |

This one was a toss-up for me. Not a bad entry in the bunch, which is amazing considering how tricky these samples were. In the end, for me it came down to: Blindfold: more of a rhythmic ambient piece than a beat but that's why I was digging it. A risky entry and I admire the balls to do something so unconventional. Feeling the texture on this. IIIII: great sample flip and those vocal chops were chilling. Tense, dark stuff going on here. Turning a goofy Japanese new wave song into something so spooky is the sign of a good ear and rock solid production skills. Green Dutch: the samples were pretty all over the place but that's what I liked. It's so full of ideas yet still feels like a complete track. Eclectic and cohesive at the same time. I never had any idea what was coming next but I was still nodding my head. Chess: this feels pro. A little more variety would have gone a long way but overall this was just so cohesive, so clean. Those drums hit hard, there's a great sense of texture, and there's so much space. Everything just sits in the pocket. It almost came down to eenie meenie miney mo for this one but in the end I decided to go with Chess. That's the kind of beat that you post on youtube and end up with 30 comments of aspiring rappers going "yo man can i lease this??? can i buy this??? what's ur email? i have $50" Just a dope beat, everything was so well executed. Props. |
