Hey there, it's been almost 2 years since we had our last tournament.
Seen a lot's of new people so I'd like to explain the concept a little.

Everybody that wanna join can pick a character that at least once appeared in the Nintendo Smash Bros series. I'm limiting it this time, because I wanna make sure we'll have shoutouts and vocals for every character.
Youtube provides the whole FX-collection from any SMASH BROS game - no need to sample that shit...

The main aspect is picking a cool sample though - so, next monday when you sign in with your character for the tourney you also need to post a download link with one track from the NES - N64 era.
Important is that it's related with your character and kinda cool.
We had a lot's of 8-bit shit in the past - which is chopped down always the same tbh... but the decision is totally up to you...

To give you an example, I might roll with DONKEY KONG because he's a cool guy and I'll pick this as my sample:

Those samples I'd like to see as stages - and in the spirit of SMASH BROS we'll fight on each others stages... So just like the tournament tree the stage you'll be fighting on get's picked by the random roulette - so pick us sth nice to work with.

Beat making rules will be kinda open - means open drums, synth and bass if necessary... your SP should be your main weapon though.

The tournament will be layed out in a classic one on one style.
One match per round - winner goes next.
4 days beat making - 3 day poll ( we could make it 5/2 also?!)
No extra days! Only sign in if you are really capable of doin it



The weekend before the tourney starts we'll have a voting on which sample should be taken for the final - I just don't wanna risk a flop at this stage -
2 day poll only. Speaking of time - the reason we're not starting now is cause I just don't have the time at the moment and but it all will work out good. Can't hurt to have a bit of promotion in before - 16 reliable dudes from the internet is quite a task but this still is the sp-forums - right?!

So now you got enough time to do some diggin in the cartridges, and if you've decided for a character you already could chop up some vocals and sound effect... You'll find everything on youtube - I'll post a few links/playlists later - but this is what this thread is also for...
You could discuss on who you wanna pick - what's cool material to work with - where to get FX for your character...

Also, if anybody is more talented then me in doing artworks, I'd be happy to see if someone could come up with a new box art and maybe even a tournament tree or such - always doin it in paint - such a shit work/result...
that would help me a lot...

Main idea is to pick old videogame music (NES -N64 era) NOT
SMASH BROS music - we want the original tunes!

it don't has to be the theme of a game/character - it could be any level music, intro, outro- it only has to be clearly connected to your character...

For the characters I'd suggest to go with playable characters only because that's the ones you'll find FX and shoutouts for...

Wax, 2 questions:
- Can you please run the times using GMT? That way there's no issue with saying 'next Monday'. My next Monday's a lot of SP fam's next Sunday (I'm at GMT+11), so it'd good to avoid any confusion. For instance if you say something's due at 2pm GMT next Monday, we're all smart enough to figure out local time from there.

- If the character I end up with isn't native to Nintendo can I use music from that series if the game wasn't released on a Nintendo but aligns with the NES-N64 years (roughly 1983 to 2003)?

2. that's totally alright - me would love to see some sonic tunes in the mix...
anything from the master system/game gear until the sega saturn era is fine...
this goes for every non-nintendo character in the smash bros roster of course..

already wanna point out that a tournament registration is only valid with a sample download link... it's just fair this way i think...

i am interested but wanted to ask. when we battle it will be one on one with a sample that is randomly selected from all of the samples provided on entry?

Can I use gameboy advance music? I know, it's after 64 era
