Hey y'all - I'm loving the tracks this week... what an honour to get to pick samples and host a battle!

I'm not gonna be so picky on outside samples 'cause I don't think I wrote the rules out as clear as I'd intended and besides all that it's cool anyways..

Reminder though - poll goes up tomorrow, Sunday noon GMT so go to world clock or something, cause, that's like, really early in the morning Stateside!!

"What time of day you make beats?" <<-- gooogle

I just learned the limitations of the zip drive on my 808 while trying to record my submission. :?

Fuck. So sorry!

I'm in the same boat man... just yesterday lost another disc to my faulty drive with 4 days of work on that Sonny Rollins project :( Last remaining disc is only semi-functional, takes about 45 seconds to process a sample and that grinding click is bringing a tear to my eye... my only bright spot is an old dude in the suburbs reeking of cigarettes and beer has a basement full of obsolete electronics and may have a spare internal zip down there somewhere.. oh pleeezz

It's all good meng, I believe it was the zip disc that was fucking up and not the drive. You best invest in some good beer and cigars and try to haggle for it!

Cool - I'll say it again, once a disc starts acting weird, back it up and throw it out, cause it will damage the drive which in turn damages new discs negative spiral...

I hit gold really. He had three replacement zip drives dirt cheap and I bought all of them. And about ten new discs. The difference in performance is like night and day, hence the jubilation in my entry this week - that and I took a couple sick days off work so had hours to resample/resample/resample.

I wouldn't get upset man - I've looked into cf-card solutions these past months and from what I can glean (and I'm admittedly probably wrong) is that it is still impossible without affecting the operation of the machine, internal effects etc etc... or, at the very least, the surgery required is so far out of my range of abilities I dare not attempt it anyway. I was pretty pleased with myself that I could unscrew the bottom plate and change out a drive :)

As it is, it took more than twelve years for my original zip drive to die (I've been using the 808 v 1.0 exclusively since i bought it in '99) and now I have three replacement drives I bought for about 15 euro a pop, which I'm expecting will keep me in business until such time in the future when a real, foolproof solution comes forward for SD/cf card, or for that matter, wireless-coupling to my cerebral cortex,,,

Ha, what a surprise.. just came across this Daedelus boiler room vid today, with the flamingos track from this battle as opener to the set. Wonder where he found it... i got it off the Lux & Ivy's favourites compilations (you guys know The Cramps, rite?)

Alright, back to nomal programming (that is, SPBB 176)
