wound up throwin one together real quick
I wanted to do a smooth/chill type thing instead of this distorted mess, but that's just the way the session went I guess
no use fighting it, go with the flow

Alright I'm done messing with this thing. Did a complete 180 from what I originally had been working on for this week.

Thanks man.
100% 404sx: chop samples a lot (lots of time spent here and creating melodic variants), resamples in order: lay down random gongs and such, typewriter pulse, tambourine track (hi hat), kick and snare, chords/melody, congas, pitch shifted fill beat, couple passes of the whole thing for chorus (2nd pass was done in mono by mistake, DOH! I do that a lot need to stop that!), vinyl sim. Mild EQ and mutibadnd master compressor in DAW before render.

The compressor on the 404sx sucks IMO. Tried to like it and make it work to do a full mix all in 404sx. The EQ was ok but EQ in DAW has adjustable Q and gui so just did it there.

Thanks,
C

cool
i had some similar workflow for the main part, to create some notes with pitch shifter fx...

that compressor thing surprise me, everyone i know on the forums talks well about it. maybe you wanted to say that it wasnt ok for that full mix aim?

I have never liked or used the 404sx compressor I have tried it many times. To me it is either non-apparent or glaringly obvious and non-musical. I thought everyone was hyped on the compressor in the vinyl sim on the 303 or 404 IIRC?

ok, i see.
well, i have a 303 and i like both vinyl and "normal" compressor, i tend to use the first one when i want to sample incoming audio instruments not particularly "alive" and the last one when i need to boost samples or sounds inside the machine; but from another point of view those 303 compressor maybe colouring too much the sound; so it dipends on what youre searching for with this machine.
