First battle I've checked out in a long while, all awesome entries, very inspiring! It was between teewok, tiredoriots and ellaguru for me, went with tiredoriots. Great battle!

Voted for Teewok, such a fine entry. Everything about it just sounded 'right' & was in the right place. Dude when you gonna drop another beat tape?

Ellaguru very VERY nearly pinned it with the freakout DJ Shadow drums & hollow Madlib bass warble. Won't lie my eyes widened a few times listening to your entry & I may have skipped back in the track a few times. Was that one made on the 606 or 505?

Oi Timid Soul was it both of you working on the one 505 for this battle? We don't get many collab battle tunes here, dope first entry too!

Feeling a bit lazy on the feedback front this battle, it's too hot to overthink things right now. Great variety too, fellas, no 2 beats sounded similar. So props again to Asha for picking great samples.

thanks chopperman! the microedit function helps very much in that case and the mute groups too + mute/unmute tracks on the fly...

sp-606.
same thing could be done on the 505, but unfortunately it doesn't have the mute group to mess better with... (one shot+mute group i mean)
one thing that i like on the 505 microedit mode(that 606 couldn't have on its own microedit) is that you can listen pattern while you create/change it, while on the 606 this is not possible, so you listen only the finished result. On the other side, on the 505 you cannot mute all the tracks ( i'm always talking about microedit mode) while listening, so it's a bit difficult when doing/writing sophisticated ryhthms like those, 'cause every sample is playing at the same time...

GIS: You got the drums sounding sweet and loved the warble on the morricone sample. Had a real pulsing vibe with a staggered pushing forward feel. Great track

Teewok: Loved how you used the samples. Some really nice chops going on. Had a real epic feel. Some great changes too. Nice subtle use of djfx looper. Good work.

Lazer bear: Great lofi track. Love the cassette fuzz. Used the drums really nice man, had a proper pumping sound and the rolls were nicely snuck in there too.

Ellaguru: SWEEEET drums. Loved the way you chopped the vocal skit apart and mangled it. SWEEEET delay on the drums, crazy glitchy D&B and then a total unexpected switch that was just awesome. Loved the beat you got going on. You really worked those drums man.

DIMXL: Nice swirling intro with the phaser/flange? Had a total spacey sound and the drums were banging.

Tiredoriots: CRAAAZY intro, enjoyed all the cut up vocal cuts and some real nice drum work on the rolls and stutters.

Timid soul: Enjoyed how you worked the bass for the intro and loved the two fast cuts at the end of the melody line you had. Sweet beat, enjoyed the double kick pattern. Nice introduction of layering and texturing towards the end too. good job.

Chopperman: Awesome, love the slowed down mellow vibe. The drums give it a real military chug. Beautiful use of the piano samples. So far this has been really different to the others. A nice change. Liked how the ending kicked in as well.

Fresh Serf Pro: Crazy lofi, glitchy intro. Liked how you used the vocal sample at the start. DAAAAYAM.....Those hats sound sweet. You got those drums sounding real good man.

Unfolding:Liked the echoey voice and piano with reversed parts intro. Liked how you made the bass line work for you in the track too man. Great use of all the samples.

OM Audio: Crazy beat you got going on, nice use of the morricone sample. Again nice use of the bass line. Interesting change for the middle part wirth the piano sample and then it came in sweet again.

Good tracks all round. I really struggled with these samples. At first listen to them I thought there would be loads to sample but as the main morricone one was quite repetitive I couldnt get much out and I wasn't happy with the drum break.

Voted for Chopperman, loved the mellow vibe and it really stood out to me, good work all round, so difficult to choose one.

I voted Teewok. Great flip, I really like the fact that it has a strong melody coming from the flutes in the sample.

I also liked Fresh Serf Pro's vocal chopping at the beginning of the track.

And yo, Unfolding, haha it was just one of us that worked on the beat. The other dude rocks a 202. Thanks for the kind words though man.

going off of soundcloud names here, also hope I got everyone!

gis-sweden - really nice mix, creepy strings and good use of vocal samps.

concrete belly - sweet build and nice melodies, nice fuzzy drums.

LAZER BEAR - good bass sound, I liked the vinyl comp and drum roll.

tiredoriots - wicked use of the drum samps, loved the cuts in the middle.

Timid Soul - awesome drum chops, good sample chops too.

DimXL - sweet flang and bass riffs, cool key changes.

Chopperman - *wicked drums, cool laid back vibes. The horns in the back are gold.

Unfolding - nice run around different samples, cool drum riff.

Clifford Novey - good blend of the skittery drums to the sample hook.

Teewok - nice horns, nice sample chops and cool efx stuff.

Ellaguru - wicked intro with the vocal chops, crazy drums and vocal efx.

Went for tiredoriots in the end, the whole thing came together nicely, good mix and melodies.

great work everyone!

tewok- nice drums and harmonic movement
ellaguru- dig the beat- chopped vocs are cool- sounds like someone has a 555? :p
FreshSerfPro- nice drums- like how you flipped the harmony
gis- bass and drums are cool- dig it
c belly- interesting drums and dig the melody
lazer b- nice bass and drums
tiredriots- great work w drums- and stops- love it
timid soul- intro and drums are tight- different- dig it- dig the mono/stereo contrasts
dimxl- dig the ambience and downtempo vibe a lot
chopperman- I like the unique feel of the drums combined with the ambience- love that you used the flute
unfolding- good job mang

I have to say it was between tiredriots, chopperman, and dimxl- always hard because they sometimes turn out so different I like more than one equally!

I went with tireriots

Really wish I had not gone mono by accident it stands out in my ear after listening to all the other entries. I learn something every time!
