im listening to these as i write...i wont bother writing negatives...
CHOPPERMAN- super smooth, nice flow, very relaxing, beautiful in its simplicity... the end is soooo dope, it got hella hard outta nowhere
PINKY AND THE BRAIN- WTF, this is demented man, super creative, i find its dissonance appealing.
POOTIE TANG- hella smooth, very catchy arrangement, and i dig the lofi crunchitude. short and sweet, i listened to this one earlier and it got stuck in my head... thats always a good thing
ASHA C- very dreamy feel, nice pulsing low end. bit crash effect is sick. the loop reminds me of those sounds that loop in my head when i used to do shrooms, thats a fun feeling.
PINEAPPLE MOB- catchy loop, tight drums. that snare hits so hard and so right, the occasional reverb on the snare hits is a cool effect.
RUN RUN RAW- nice lofi crisp, cool bongo usage. nice chop, its all over the place with tiny bits of sample flowing together nicely slow motion bit at the end is sick.
TIMMY TOGA- nice work, the drums are delightfully wonky, the hi hats give it a propulsive feel. the chops are nice, good use of the rhodes
RUNME RAW- nice and fuzzy sound. super catchy chop, i like the bongo usage. very demented and creative submission, this one really stands out in the crowd. hard level chops
ENDOR SHORES- off beat feel is nice, it feels fast which is cool. hard level chops. that little filtered end bit is sick.
DINGUS54- smooth jazzy feel, nice snare work, another one that stands out from the crowd, that first loop was sick, and the second one really cools down, nice contrast.
JELLYFISH- niiice, the effects are sick, i have no idea what you did to get the sounds you got and thats a good thing. clean chops. simple drums make it very head nod friendly.
DJ KS- sick dubstep feel, nice wobbles. i dont know how you did it but its awesome. very cool direction to go in. super chill. outro was a nice touch
CHICKADEE- wonky jazz feel, the drums are sick, super creative on every level. the hi hats get insane about halfway through. this is a super head bobber. the end bit is dope, nice transition
KEL- hella chill, nice fat low end. simple and sweet. interesting arrangement with the chops.

all that said, i guess ill have to cast my vote for... chickadee, that beat was sick. it wasnt easy to cast a vote, props to everyone for bringing the heat, not a bad beat in the whole lot

thanx man, I just put some overdrive on a little" bass slide" bit you find in the song, and then I transferred it on the pitch bank so I could have the notes.

This time I voted for Chopperman. I reminds me a certain nineties rnb/smooth jazz feel. Loved the sax samples arrangement

cheers!

Lots of entries!!

It was a toss up between chickadee and dingus54, but I went with the latter. I thought the layers sounded cool and kind of stoney. And it was a two-parter :)

RUNRUN_RAW - K.A.T.G.-Secret Sp Edit!
Has a somewhat centrifugal quality to it, like a sonic whirlwind

PINKY AND THE BRAIN - Goldipus Love Angel of Clontarf Diarexia
The heavy, liquid effects on the sounds recall the paradoxes of a wandering mind.
Those percussive sounds in the end seem to suggest a glimpse of... truth.

JELLYFISH - HEARYUU
nice use of the voices throughout

POOTIETANG - sp120
you did a great job, very nice loop

PINEAPPLEMOB - SP BATTLE 20 FREE
very nice rearrangement and beat - would have been nice to see it evolve a little more, though

DJ KS - FreeDub Battle120:_Dj_Ks
Impressive use of the effects to create the wobble
the beat is nice but sounds a little subdued

CHICKADEE - FREE [SPBB#120]
I'm definitely not a fan of heavy wow/flutter, but there's a huge amount of good work on display here

TIMMYTOGA - Sp Battle 120 - Oralsax
This beat may have exhausted you, but you did a very nice work overall
At 0:05 the interruption sounds a little too abrupt, as does the filter at 0:23 and 0:55 - nice wah effect at 0:49

LAZERBEAR - Nothing in life is free
Engrossing: it sounded like you were slowly molding a dense sonic matter into a new shape, finally coming to completion at 1:13 (onwards).
At 1:28 seemed like you were about to repeat the process.
I also liked the last seconds, sounded as if it was the raw sound of your machinery.

DINGUS54 - Axel gang
Nice starting beat that gets replaced by a dark, tribal and processional loop.
I'm not fully convinced about the way the two parts are linked, though

RUNME_RAW - Runme Raw - I Just wanna see u free!!!
The lo-fi vocal intro sounds too harsh - nice work afterwards, I especially liked the urgency of the loop
The heavy use of effects (like you were jamming all along) was a risky choice, but the result is musical nonetheless
I'd cut a good 30 seconds, though

ENDORSHORES - AmnesiaWalls
Stunning, lively loop !
I really liked the use of the voices in the middle part.
I couldn't stomach the drums, though... they sound too off to me.

ASHA C - battle 120
Epic beat, that nice lo-fi melody reminded me somehow of 'the girl from Ipanema'

KEL - KOOL MENTHOL 120s SP-120
Sober, introspective and relaxed beat, everything sounds just right

CHOPPERMAN404 - Love At First Chop (gets my vote)
Creative, smooth and articulate: what more can we ask for ?
The rhytmic effect at 2:01 is awesome.
I would have cut the song at 2:19... but it's just me

@everyone: keep up the great work !

I'll try to give you my view about the beats:
-LAZERBEAR: crazy drum loop (good use for the bongos ,i found), nice filters ,it's a cool beat yo
-KEL404: like your suspens vibe & the grain , good drum
-DJ KS: I'm surprised at the start good intro , did you add a bass or sampled a bass and after boost it ? i like , the bass is very high but it fuck lol
JELLYFISH: dope loop , i'm curious about how you process with the samples, did you using the slicer ? efficacious
-DINGUS54: boom boom bap bap = <3 , a good mastery of sample repeat, the 2nd part is so high particulary @00:52
-ENDORSHORES: crazy drums and particulary your swing , i'm ok with this and i understand the vibe , i found it's maybe a too long beat but it's just a view ;)
-RUNME RAW: so dope , all the paterns are crazy (@00:28 so cool) good evolution of the track
-TIMMYTOGA: dope drum chop with a remarkable swing, the samples are mastery ,like this
-RUNRUN RAW: slow and chill vibe , super dope when i smoke weed for heard this :)
-PINEAPPLEMOB:good pattern with an end stop, i like (i prefere a short beat +/- 01:00 when it's a loop)
-ASHA C: a fucking good trip with samples , specificly the ?sax? turned in lo fi
-POOTIETANG: high level here , perfect grain , drum loop is mystical !
-PINKY AND THE BRAIN: this slow beat is crazy a little bit too for me but i'm ok with this experimentation
-CHOPPERMAN : good flip / 90's style like buckwild in nineteen ninety now album of celph titled

@lazybear: thx for your comment
@tfa: thx for your vision just i don't understand "heavy wow/flutter" you want to say that it's too compressed or rough ?
@everyone: THX to make the battle, it's very cool to see the differents vibes of each beatmakers

VOTE FOR POOTIETANG!!congrat man

At 0:03, 0:14, and in many other places I hear what I suppose to be some wow/flutter effect, simulating the irregularities in the playback speed of analog tape, applied with an high value.
It could be something completely different, though, anyhow this makes it really difficult to me to follow the music (it feels nauseating to me).
As far as the lo-fi sounds, you used them very well, imho.
I think that the thing that detracts the most from you song is the over- iteration of the initial pattern: at 0:40 something new happens, but this promise of changing things is not kept, and when the creative work with the hats starts at 0:52, it's over the same starting loop, that keeps iterating until 1:20.
Speaking of 1:20, I really liked the transition sound that takes to the nice ending part, very musical indeed.

thx man for your precision, i understood now ,this kind of irregularity add a groove for me but it's true, it's hard to listen it

Chopperman- Sweet shuffley intro, thought it was going to be a real dark track for a minute then it kicked in with that real smooth groove.. Nice melody and great use of the samples. The way you used the drums around 1:40 was cool. A lot of great sections. Crazy outro.

Pinky and the Brain- EERIE and dark. The pitched down vocals were cool.

Pootietang- Nice use of the sample, real nice, laid back sparkley feel. Catchy and feel good melody. Good job.

Pineapplemob- Great melody, snare really hits hard and the hats sound cool. Wasnt overly keen on the reverberated snare hits, a little too echoey for my taste. Real head nodder, good use of the vocal sample especially the pitched up part.

RUNRUN RAW- Great use of the filter. Enjoyed the melody and lofiness of the track.

TimmyToga- Nice laid back, jazzy vibe. Great subtle use of the filter effect, not too over the top. Really like the drum rolls you got going on there.

RUMME RAW- Great use of effects at the beginning, like BOOOOOM bit crushing goodness. Had a cool glitchy feel but I felt maybe a bit overuse on the BPM looper. A crazy collage, god job.

ENDORSHORES- Real off kilter beat made me kinda dizzy. Nice use of the vocals but I was seriously getting seasick with the off beat. The outro didnt make me feel as bad, great use of effects.

DIngus54- Great snare sound. Second rewind was unexpected and enjoyable. The use of bitcrush was subtle and effective. The twisted ( vinyl sim use?) ending was a nice touch too, pretty creepy.

Jellyfish- Loving the lofi tape wobble recording. Loved the use of the vocal sample. So far this is the one I've enoyed the most. Great bass too.

DJKS- WOOOOOO sweet bass wobble and dubby beat. Loving the occasional hits and just enough variation with the melody, maybe more drum variation would've pushed it forward that little more.

CHICKADEE- Again another sweet lofi tapey sound. Nice melody and the warbles gave it that lofi sound. I enjoyed the lag on the beat that kept you nodding but at an off pace. Great use of the vocal samples too.

KEL- Really sweet use of the drums. Really different from all the other beats. Really noddy. Also enjoyed the lofi feel. Great use of the bass too.

LAZERBEAR- Lofi feel was pretty sweet. Good use of the filter and I'm sure I heard some slight bit crushing in there. Effects were subtle and worked well. Maybe a bit too much DJFX looper/BPM Looper? towards the end. Loved the drum sound you got going on.

Really tough to choose. A throw up between DJ KS, KEL, JELLYFISH and CHICKADEE. Gonna go with KEL.

CHOPPERMAN404 - DAMN, these chops are clean as hell and these drums are so crisp. This beat is technical as EFF and I wish I knew what the hell you were doing.

PINKY AND THE BRAIN - SHORT AND SWEET... Kilt it with those FX and that choppy ass SAX. Had to rewind this one several times.

POOTIETANG - EWW THIS SOME TAPE SHI-... This one's got the LO-FI dirt and those bongo shits killed it. Lovely chops and the beat is chill-mode. Sounds aren't cluttered. Cheers.

ASHA C - EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I love that sangin through-out the whole beat. That glitchy ass sax is dope. There's also some backwards ish going on and again I have no idea what you're doing. Dope.

PINEAPPLEMOB - EW DUDE these chops are too crispy clean makes me feel like I need to practice. These drums punch and your choice of chops and arrangement is creative and tight as EFF.

RUNRUN_RAW - This one here buddy got that lofi crunch. Your low-end and drums sounds deep as cavernous funk. Slowed this one down one-time for my mind. Digging this one yafeel.

RUNME_RAW - ORIGINAL THIS ONE IS SO ORIGINAL I LOVE THIS. This is the best. Raw robot technical funk sandwich. This one's got the tape funk. Can't say enough good things about this beat.

ENDORSHORES - Original tempo here. No one made their beat like this, vocal chops are dope. I dig that doot doot doot doot DEEEEE that saxophone's going. Like the pitch down at the end and the filter shits.

DINGUS54 - EW DUDE killin it with the SNAP SNAP double snare. Dig the pitching of the samples and it's crispy clean as funk. Love the beginning beat - kind of sullen. The end becomes a dope ass clouddead boards of canada thing that i REALLY REALLY LOVE

JELLYFISH - OH SHI some professional microwave tape shit happening. Ok these effects are killin it and I need to practice. These drums killed it and the tempo is strictly for the smokers. Damn those drums crisp. How the fuh you made that melody?

DJ KS - Got the dubby wobble funk. You man-handled that bass sound. HOW U DO DAT? Dig this shi- for real. You let that shit ride at the end there. Love that shit.

CHICKADEE - OH SHI I'M FU**ED UP! Dude you know those vinyl sim wobbles always come correct. Dude your arrangement is insane! And then compression in part 2. What the hell?! Nasty.

KEL - UGH DUDE TALK ABOUT SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST. The lowend filter and the sounds you made holy hell bruh... Sounds soooo clean and crisp. Those bongos and everything man. This one murked it.

LAZERBEAR - CMON NOW THESE CHOPS ARE HARD AS FUKZ... This got that lofi shit and the FX ARE BEAUTIFUL NOT OVERDONE. SMOOTH YET HARD!!!!!

Soooo many amazing submissions. These battles are stuff. The samples were amazing by the way sleepy and I wanna say that everyone killed it. My favorites were Kel, runme_raw, jellyfish, and pootietang.

Sooo hard to pick one but I'm gonna have to go with Kel.

Everyone came with dope tracks. My favorites were pootietang, asha c, chickadee, and lazerbear. My vote goes to Kel though, smooth chops and shuffley drums do it for me haha
