allright lets vote :!: unfortunantly only 2 people came thru- so its a battle between me and Olerud. I would have liked more heads to join but it seemed like no one was interested in this battle and you gotta keep shit moving along. better luck next battle

olerud- very sick tune, liked the drums too especially the snare.

it was a tuff choice but i voted olerud

juxt - nice work, simple and raw!

I wish more people tried to flip this, but its a busy time of year. I will definitely be involved in these battles. This one taught me a lot about my SP - I had never before effectively used the time shift.

Even if people try to make something out of the sample and don't like their results, they should still post it just so we can hear a broad variety of what people on here can do.

juxt- I like your beat because of all the cleanliness of it. its hard to believe you pulled some of those sounds out of that song. its got a nice feel to it, a kind of creepy atmosphere that is far from the original. it could use a bit of variation though

olerud- your beat sounds a little muddled, but it fits with the sound of the kick and it grew on me the more i listened. i like how that synthy noise changes around 1:13 and again at 2:00 it got me bouncin in my seat.

in the end im voting for olerud its got me hitting play again
this battle came and went so quick i really hope to get in on the next one!

I agree, I'm definitely going to post my "beat" (not very good obviously since I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to hip-hop beat making) made out of this one once I've solved my problems with the SP-606.

juxt: like the hats and the clean vibe

on the other side:

olerud: i like the kix and the muddiness. woulda like it louder.

i voted for olerud cuz i like beat flip. i thot it was a tough battle, myself.

nice work tho, dudes.

juxt: real cool props on the production quality felt like it was lacking something would be sick with vocals even though thats not the point of this

olerud: was more engaging it sounds like it was recorded live

good work both though showing some dedication

i made a beat for the one battle it was the first time i tried dissecting a song for drums and leads and stuff, by the time i got somewhere it was voting time but it was still a great learning experiance and a way to build unique samples

both you guys got way further than I did when i messed around with this sample, so props.

both beats are dope, very evenly matched. the scarcity of any clean instruments resulted in some pretty minimal, rhythm-reliant beats. i like the snares in Olerud's, and Juxt's bassdrum placement sounded ill, i like the way it skips.

nice work guys, i think i prefer Juxt's beat by a whisker, so he gets my vote.

Olerud has my vote for the arrangement, but Juxt always has crispy drums for the battles.

Juxt - nice space, use of reverb and crisp eq... Kind of reminds me of one of those levels in old school Mario where you'd be jumping about inside a massive clock!!!

Olerud - Really like the arrangement and the way you brought in the main melody at 1:13. Interesting experiments with pitch shift too.

I'm gonna vote Juxt for the crispy sounds and for giving me gameboy nostalgia!!!
