2 battles at once :!: - I'm down. I dont know if this unofficial battle should be posted in the arena forum though, maby in the freedom of speech. just because cats are gonna get confused between the 2.

any thoughts?

I'm not sure what a subforum is or if I have the ability to make a subforum.

I could make a sticky for these battles though. Are these battles gonna be only 1 on 1 or could anyone join in?

hmm... how about if 8 ppl signed in.. omg how about a tournament type of a battle?? Lets have 4 individual one on one battles, best of each one gets to semifinals and the final 2 left fight for the SP-Forum championship :D The winner of the previous round provides the sample for the next round. Anyone interested?

sounds like a good idea but I dont think it will work. Battle #8 had only 2 people participate- I dont think it will be easy to get members to commit to this battle. I dont know. I guesse its worth a try.

Man, two electro dance samples in a row are just to much for most sampling raw loving sp guys.

my 2 cents : i'd like to take part in a battle where i don't spend hours polishing turds into drum noises. i am all for sonic manipulation, but it gets disheartening when you have to spend hours doing repetitive resampling, trying to get rid of traces of other instruments/give some length to a savagely chopped snare, etc etc.

like i said, this is a valuable skill, but it tends to suck away your creativity when you have that task ahead of you. how about someone selects one of the classic breakbeats for us to get our drums from, and another song to gets chops from?

polishing turds into drumhits is the best part 8) .
I dont think you are the only one who doesnt like spending time filtering drums though. and it seems like no one is posting the optional drumhits/drumbreak along with the sample in the other battles. Maby these clymaX battles should require drumhits/drumbreak along with the sample.
what do you think?

don't get me wrong man, i am all for turd-polishing!! it's just that i feel more people would progress further with their battle tracks if there wasn't the requirement of a huge resampling session which may not result in snappy drums anyway.
if we were given a nice breakbeat to use i would still expect everyone to throw some effects on the drums so they stood out, so it's not as if there'd be no resampling. just with a different purpose.

but people could still chop drums out of the sample track posted, as well as melodic/instrumental chops.

Yo, my room mate just got a new laptop and he's been picking up wireless internet from somewhere, so I can now access the internet at my house. before I was only online at work and I can't be downloading/uploading/sampling here. Now that I can at my house I am so down to battle with my SP202. I'll be getting down on the next battle (#9), or on some of these battles or whatever. Bottom line=I'm down. Since I'm limited to 6 effects and no resampling capabilities without recording to a tape deck then back into the SP, I also echo the "add a breakbeat" sentiment but I'm also down for polishing some stinky old poop nuggets into some bust yo shit open beats. No what I mean? I'm more down for a group battle than a 1 on 1 since someone with a 404 could easily wipe the floor with me and my 202 if we went head to head.

Hmmm...
I'm always up for creating crazy rhythms from chops so that the beats sound more original - a standard snare/kick/hat sound will only get you so far...

But that aside, I think the main focus here should be on getting as many people involved as possible (a 15 man battle would be dope! ...and we'd all learn a lot more about how to flip shit about).

I think it's worth trying the break+main sample thing for battle 9 as an experiment to see how many peeps enter. If it's just the same then fuck it, let's keep it hardcore!
...but if it's gonna draw in a load more people (who normally haven't got the time to spend hours resampling their asses off) and get them being creative with the ideas and not just the beats... then frickin sweet!

(Sorry ClymaX we're kinda moving away from your original post)

I'm down either way man. I'm in for battle number 9 with out without a breakbeat.
