juxt- what the fuck is wrong with you? first you unsucessfully try recreating someone elses drums and then come with a wack melody over it. how bout you stay retired from the arena?

Don't be hard on yourself, mang, your beat was fresh.
If I had only voted for 10 people, you definitely would've gotten my vote

waddup fam! epic round... props to everyone who got in here, and props to keesj for makin it happen with the loot and organizing. Let me start by saying, the competition was on another level and everyone came with heat. I feel lucky to have gotten any votes, so thanks for that and also thanks to all the cats who gave feedback.

Ha ha! Damn this took a minute... here goes:

Amable – Nice chops. Nice changeup. Like the reverse chops you got in there.

* Antee – Real ill… nice and clean. Good to hear a new battle beat from you man. Sounds very reduced and controlled, but on point.

Blacksnow – Good job for your first battle. Every round makes you a lot better, so stay active in the arena and you’re bound for good things.

Computers – like the way you flipped this and used mostly that one source track (or maybe only that one track). Real cool.

Count – a little dusty but still no rust on it. I need to get back into the battles… cats are stepping up big.

* Creep Nasty – diggin the vibe you got goin on… real nice song composition. The changeup is dope.

* Dibiase – Feeling the composition and use of effects. Cool reverse chops in there. Dope.

DJ Just Jeff – Bangin drum intro. I like the changeup… overall a real nice beat.

DMan5000 – Different approach. Solid beat. A little drawn out with the build-ups for my taste.

* Doctakay – Dope beat. Really feelin this one. Nice work.

* Elhuana – Very cool… great use of those plucky strings. Nice job of building a song out of it… good variety too.

Ellaguru – Different feel to the drums… and I like the way that part fades in. Not really feeling the repitched sounds… but that’s just taste. Still a nice beat tho.

Fauna – Nice composition… really different style. Really clean. Diggin it. Sounds like a sunrise meditation session kindof.

iG9 – Great song title. Nice distortion you got on them drums… another flip from the dark side of surreality… nice one.

* IIIII – Fresh… nice sample tweakage. Dope changeups… and an overall great song.

Jay – Great beat man… has a really laid back vibe to it. Nice pitch work. Very chill.

JGriz – Real different. Very controlled and clean. Nice sound design.

Jmoki – Cool… very off-the-grid. Nice unquantized feel… and plenty of grime.

* JonWayne – Ill. Think this one gets my vote for number one in this pool of dopeness. Infectious little groove, nice use of effects, and the sickest changeup of the lot (imho). Word. Crazy simple drums, but they work nice.

Juxt – Great to hear a new battle beat from you. Real clean drums… pretty minimal on the track, but still works.

* Kel – Dope beat. Nice mix of dark and light sounds… those stabs are ill. Love the jazziness that they bring the track. Real nice balance. It was hard pickin a favorite between this track and the Zombie Strings.

Lazyfoot23 – Real different rhythm to lay down… cool. Feelin the percussive bleeps and synth stuff mixed in with the drums.

Oaxaca – Real unique flavor. Cool track.

Ormo – Nice and dirty… I like that “whop whop” synth sound in the beginning.

Project Waxwick – Gets points for being so different from the group… nice song composition. Cool use of the samples. And I really like that kick/crash that opens up the drum part.

SP404Beatz – Nice beat. The answer back and forth synth line wears me out a bit, but I like what you did with the samples.

SteveC – Dig that lazer beam drop that kicks things off. Nice drums… and cool work with those sustained and effected synth sounds. Nice beat homie.

Teewok – I think this beat and Jays are the most chill and overall easiest to listen too… nice work.

* TimfromTexas – Cool beat. Has a real old school style… nice.

* Wax – Flipped it real good homie. Makes me think of Portishead a little… cool downtempo track. Nice job of reworking the samples. Good layering… sounds really deep and murky.

Wondrkut – Cool beat. Excellent groove… good variety. I like the air in this track.

Everyone did fantastic stuff for the battle... I appreciate anything that was said about my track and love constructive criticism... Considering this was my first battle and only my 3rd or 4th "complete" song rather than just some loop I am taking my votes all the way to the bank! I'll be in the open challenges more from now on... This was fun!

All right everyone I hit the street walking listening to beats on I-phone taking notes, yeah I killed my neck and sorry this isn't really solid here are my top ones though
Teewok
Dibase
Eligraugh
ANDRU
wundrkut

I was a little more critical than I needed to be and to be honest I found my self free styling over some beats and not really catching the names, and because my style varies I also objectified with that perspective so please take these reviews with a grain of salt

I experimented with the f/x on the beat but I could of done allot better good looks on the criticism

elhuana
Didn't like it fuck you than, Just Kidding, I admit I got sloppy I did the whole thing in 3 hours, Good shit just doesn't happen at least not with me. Anyway, I didn't really analyze the tracks, Just knit-picked like a bootleg Puffy. I also forgot to duplicate a double kick correction. Don't you hate hearing those uncorrected mistakes on tracks.

Everyone please let me know I truly value your effort to put forth the criticism just don't talk about my moms yo.

Fauna Thanks, Steve C "weird Stuff" yeah I got lost in the FX kinda lazy-footing, I'm gonna change my name to Erich Zahn, Juxt - solid beat (yeah messed up on duplication)

Andru- epimatic
What did he use like the 8 bar looping going on lots of subtle change ups only quarrel what equipment was used hot shit though, I really liked
4

Brooks Autry
Liking the hat action.  Abrupt stop, a seemless or a better transition, I fucked with pitch too.  I would like to see more use of other instruments than again, sometimes more isn't better.
3

Timfromtexas
Good work on the drums man. Solid beat, other beats had so many change ups

Teewok
Dramatic Intro . Boom Bappin. Something u can rap to.
4

Faunaflage
A little too choppy beats, good work on the bass, how long it take to make.
2

Iiiii
Not my taste but solid and dark, like a miedeval dub track.  King of fx though, Catches the mood
3.5

IG9
Same glitchy Not my style at all
1

Dman5000
The beat reminds me of a tv show the drum part. Damn, kinda hard to stack up against rest, Solid though
2

Amable
I see the effort the beat a lil to techno glitch watever
2

J griZ
Kinda catchy plain drum and bass not my style but fun you belong in a geico commercial
4

Elhuana
Damn that is loud or jgriz may be to low good panning solid chorus work needs more kick, what bpm is it
I like the pitch change at end
3.5

Ellaguru
Bad swing indeed hard kick though,  hat over empasised , kinda hard to but stylistic preference away from it but I can't listen to this it's like a bad acid trip
2

Battle # 55
Same shit used before,
Nah it's the same as that t dude,
2

Count Sierakula
Liking the synthetic bass. The drums are chaoticly good? Laser tagging
3

Jmoki
Nah I can't listen to this
1

Lfdoom
Yup coulda done better, intro isn't satisfying and the 2nd double kick drum pattern wasn't fixed got, the horn sounds like a baby fart cute but does 't belong
Ahh well
2

SteveC
Like drums Dj shadow indeed the blending of beet seems like an egotistic art director with final cut, a little too weird bur than again solid rhythm section.
3.5

Computers
Someone broke my Nintendo it smells funky intro nice. What u scratch with.
3.5 too scratchy on beat iron it, but defines track

Wax inspector
Too slow, kinda somber but I heard better.  The synths are cool.
3

Antee paranoid
U get a point for the cover. Good in it's simplicity, this shit grew on me
4

JonWayne
Good strings solid with te instruments fx Need more drums
2,5

Kel 55
Smooth but doesn't jump out to really hold my intention
3

Melt ya face
Da beat is craY

I know everyone is reading this so I might as well ask

How do you change the max velocity on the SP404? If I can get the answer out of someone before the manual that will be cool.

 I know it's not search though.

32 beats to go through  finally got some time to sit down and listen with a clear mind
$$$ signs connote a vote 8)

$$$adru- very fun beat. drums a bit choppy when the pattern loops and gets a bit repetitive by the end. but the crescendo of some of the samples sound epic and well processed. very full sounding. just be a bit more humble next time you participate in a community event please
Amable- nice drums and guitar chops. very grand sounding, marching band quality.
$$$Antee- very good beat for freestyling, straightforward but holds your attention. wish it was a bit longer and varied but still enjoy it very much.
BlackSnow- very simple could have flipped more samples on it
COMPUTERS- nice drums. i like the little drop out towards the end
Count Sierackula- cool groove but its very low end sounding. interesting way of making a sample sound like different type of synth
Creep Nasty- nice driving beat. i like the high pitched sound that occurs with the snare, and when the other cymbal comes in and builds momentum. and the delay works well.
$$$dibiase 1- awesome chop work on the synth sample. wicked switchups and a high quality sound. interesting live fx tweeking
Dj_just_jeff- heavy drums and a cool switch.
dman500- the chops on the guitar create a "played live" vibe which i like. i don't really dig the drum beat when it speeds up
Doctakay- funny track name, and cool reverse strings. very nice when the bass comes in
$$$elhuana- hopefully it wont be long till we hear another beat like this from you  very sick. i like the varying snare sounds and use of the open hat and drum rolls. glitchy but tight chops that bring visions of a futuristic samurai duel of some kind
Ellaguru- very crunchy and intense sound processing.
$$$fauna (faunaflage)- good way of building up tension before the beat rides. love the mood set, like smokin a blunt at sunset. love how a guitar sample plays in one channel and a synth will build in the other. epic sample use in the middle too, unexpected but welcome
iG9- needs more sample chops
IIIII- you gotta lay off the delay man, that shit'll rot your brain
JayLost- solid work but the drums could be sped up a bit. it feels like its moving in slow motion
j.griz- interesting use of the samples but that little melody gets too repetitive.
Jmoki- a little to choppy for my tastes but interesting sound processing
$$$jonwayne- rich sound quality and solid drums. not really into the pitch thing going on 3/4 of the way in, but still voted for you
juxt- needs some bass yo. sounds unfinished
$$$kel- sweet work with the delayed stabs. and you always seem to know where to put a crash.
Lazyfoot23 (aka LFDOOM24MILLI)- hard drums but gets a bit repetitive
Oaxaca- neat drums and switch up. like the "old" sound of it
ormo- like being stuck in a lo-fi swamp. very cool
project waxwick- you flipped the samples in a unique way with an interesting panning technique. solid use of drums too
sp404beatz- i like the way it builds into a groove
SteveC- interesting flip. way to use the manic drums to your advanatage
$$$Teewok- contains a lot of emotion. very solid and professional sounding
timfromtexas- good technique, but sounds like it can be developed more
$$$Wax Inspektor- dope drums, i like the stereo quality of them also. dark and moody, like getting geared up to go out and paint.
$$$wundrkut- SOOO sick when the intro drops out and the drums come in. instant head nodding. good work blending the two samples together. neat bass sound

I think Wax's beat has emerged as my fav... He just arranged the sample so well and I felt the emotion of the beat the whole way thru... Its a beat that in my opinion captures both fear and confidence and just gives off a raw deep feeling

As for my beat I thought it was pretty average lol but thanks to everyone for taking the time to listen and giving positive feedback
