it was started by an American travelling through West Africa. his mission was to find rare African funk from the 1970s and save the vinyl before it all got forgotten

he's got heaps of mixes online, which i find very inspiring to listen to. the rhythm of these musicians is incredible. i haven't been sampling any of it, just trying to absorb some of their amazing musicality.

you guys should take a listen to a mix or two, you'll love it!
