sounds like you need to learn the low end theory....

that's where you'll get that warmth.....

failing that just find a VST with a bass synth....filter it down low, tune it and play it...

+1 on the low end theory

and indeed, otherwise you can try the bass notes of a rhodes VST maybe or a simple Square wave with a low pass filter on it

You got it ttwisted if you refer to 9th Wonder as old school.

But...

Open bass notes are hard to come by on sampled vinyl. Not that they're not there. Just you got to dig a little.

Some Jazz records got some soloed bass you can snag.
Or some Funk records. Find out who the bass players you like are and look for albums theyre playing on.

You gotta dig. Hard. It dont come easy.

Unless you get on a computer and use some cheap plugin or whatever.

Other options are using a low pass filter. You gotta resample a lo pass and resample (sometimes more than once) a little bit.

The low pass is what they did in 90s to get those dope baselines.

But if you dig and patiently listen youll find some bass notes on the most random records.

I just sampled a bass loop from a 60s pop record I found in dollar bin.

Dig, listen, sample, chop, loop.

and producers deviating from that method is why a lot of modern shit sounds so plastic...

you cant fake the funk with a corny azz VST.....shit just aint the same....

@MattCoops Knew someone would say somehtin like that.. Wasn't really mentioning him as old school more than using the bass he uses is a good example of that old school sound, his usually sit perfect in the mix to me. Thanks for the tips though for real, was figuring I would have to dig but was wondering if anybody knew of packs cause all I need is single notes that I can pitch more than wanting to do melodies with it but I'm really just about to load up on single bass notes tomorrow, diggin' through shit for bass scares me though cause I fall in love with samples too easily, gonna get distracted I already know.

And fuck I know @Living Bate every time I look up bass packs I always get those fuckin 808s and shit, it's not good for gettin groovy just sounds like fuckin thug pop music lmao still pop as fuck to me and I don't groove to that.
