Okay before you guys cruicfie me and be like GET YOUR OWN SOUND! I was just curious on how he gets those low punchy lo fi soul dirty drum sounds? Any ideas? Maybe he loops vinyl drm breaks maybe? |

We will never know for sure but it seems like mostly vinyl chops from a lot of late 70's-80's and probably even early 90's r&b and soul music eq'd or isolated to the way his ear desires. Also usually a lot of compression at the end for the ducking or side chaining effect. A lot music during that era used drum machines like the oberheim dmx and linndrum which can usually be heard in most his beats. Bouncing to tape never hurts either! |
