http://www.box.com/s/9vd0zb9m3in4nihhuyvv EDIT: somehow on render, these files got a silence added at the beginning...sorry, but you'll have to truncate/mark them so they hit right on the pad. - also you might want to normalize a couple of snares/toms if they sound quiet prior to loading. Thanks 11 megs of one hits recorded from a DW drum kit with a mix of cymbals. Recorded in my simple home studio with a 6 mic setup (2 OH, 2 tom, 1 snr, 1 bass). Lots of long decay cymbals and domes here, something I don't see alot in packs. Most hits in fact have a long natural decay. Some processing (EQ/comp) but fairly dry sounding except for a couple - some hits are more of a full "kit" sound (ie, all mics on) and others are isolated , like some kicks and snares , for FULL impact. Not all samples are normalized, like high hats and cymbals, to maintain some dynamics. Free to use of course, and send me a link to your music if you end up using it as the main kit |

just flipped thru these bitches, nice work. micing snares in the hardest recording technique ever. still good work. I read for micing a snare you should use 2 mics, a bass mic under the snare and a high mic above the snare, still its almost impossible to make them smack crack pop like a 60s/70s recording. |

Thanks - yeah i've tried the double mic'ing technique - it worked ok but didn't sound all too much different to my ears.....there are 3 snare samples in there that SNAP pretty hard, i don't recall which offhand but they had some post EQ/compression to give them bite (they'll stand out). The others are a bit more "in the room" but usable for layering/ghost notes/ comp/EQ on sampler first. Yeah those old 60's /70s snares are great - this is a maple snare here, I really need to get a vintage aluminum/metal snare to get that sound. |
