Hey there.

I've got an sp-404 and I love it :) I'm interested in getting a second SP, probably a 555.

I'm interested to know from the gurus here, what are your favourite features on the 555?

many thanks! happy sampling :)

thought youd never ask. :D

-16 pads.
-usb cable for streaming sounds to and from your computer.(works like a sound card)
-pattern copy
-phantom power for xlr mics
-loop capture is also pretty handy.
-d-beam is good for applying filter but it does other stuff also
-compatible with 2 gig memory cards
-lots of effects

did i miss anything?

Hi-Z input, you can plug in and record electric guitar or E-bass directly. Amp Sim FX will give you preety good guitar sound.

ive been rockin the loop capture like no ones business now. i set my tempo, record nothing- ness with the measures set. then i turn on the metronome and rock out to the tempo. record everything in parts, save to pad, and im good. and that source select (so you only record from incoming signals and not whats playing on the pads) is the best, i let the pads rock, record another part from like fruityloops with my samples chopped up. im not too keen on the pattern sequencing, so now i get everything i need and record into cubase.

Springwater, how does the recording nothing with loop capture differ from just recording nothing on one pad and making a pattern out of it? What are the advantages with it? sorry but I couldn't quite get it!

i record nothing to make sure i got my loop set, then when you record in the loop capture again when you loop it will record the loop-over and not stop and give you that loop glitch. usually when i set the bars and hit record i dont hit record at the right time and i get a gap in the beginning. with the "nothing recorded" you can hit record and start when you want and when it loops, lets say your holding a string, the string will record over(overdub) so you might either let it ride or stop on point if you dont want that doubles sound.
hope it makes sense!
