I own a SP555 and I was thinking to buy a MC909 for having drums in my live set up. I wanted to load the drums and perc samples in the MC909 and play them live, the thing is that it s not really cheap just for duin that and also pretty large to be carried to the live sets.

Is it a another way to do just that on the SP555 or I have to buy the MC909?

Thanks a lot!! :)

The thing is that if I want to simultaneously apply let's say a reverb on drums and delay on hats, that's not possible on sp555

i see, one thing you might want to try is using resample with the desired effect on. then you will have your dry drums, and the kick with the reverb or the hats with the delays. when your playing live just use them at the time you need. (just a thought though)

I don't think that MC 909 is the best choice for what you described. Especially for live. It looks like the meanest and sexyest machine to me...but, you will have to make all your drums before live session. It is not so good as it looks for live. You will be able apply and manipulate FX offcourse but hey... 909 is 16 SYNTHESIZERS and DRUMMACHINES in one box + sampling ability.
This thing is so full of synths and drum kits you will forget about 555
Check the red Korg Electribe SX.

Let me see if I got it right:
U say MC909 not the best choice and that the best choice is not the SP555 either, but the best is the Electribe EsX?

So Korg ESX is better at loading my samples and sequencing them? what about chopping? Is it easyer on the ESX, is it also precise?

you can chop on either.. maybe a bit easier on the ESX..the point is though

the esx sequencer is locked to 16th resolution (+swing)

the SP records however you play it when quantize is off.. so you can hit a beat halfway between 2 16ths if you like.. you gotta play your own swing though
