Damn, you had to pay 600 bucks for your 404, they're robbing you folks. Does the mpc 2500 cost like $4000?.

I mean, if you know where to shop and how to bargain, or if you buy second hand, then its not like double the price than us prices.. but its ridiculous in general...

Is it shipping cost, exchange rate, taxes, wheres the price difference come from?. If someone in the US bought you a 555 and shipped it would it still be a lot of money?.

as long as it has a 'simple' power supply it is cheaper to import audio gear into australia (either internal switching 110-240 or DC-in which means you can buy one from an electronics store)

the pain comes with things that have custom power supplies like electribe SX / MX with their weird 9V AC power supply with a strange plug. (korg will tear you a new arsehole if you try to by one direct from them)

oh and for the record. . not buying one here. .

not being able to capture multiple separate loops in sync (like the 4 on the kp3), or save a loop to a pad without stopping, kinda kills its ability to be used live beyond a simple DJ effect box... because somehow you have to be able to "deconstruct" the loop. . but you cant because all the audio is intermingled

Yeah it kinda seems half ass is you ask me, I mean if it was 404 price then now were talkin' but otherwise if I need to do more complicated things live I'll just use my macbook and run ableton live 6 with a pad kontrol. Anything else I have my 303 to do the job. I also kinda dislike the sad attempt to appeal potential mpc poseurs with the 16 pad look, they even went as fas as to number them in that backward retarded ass akai way.

really makes you wonder if roland really did any research before coming up with this unit. I mean, like who really needs one of these??

I agree. . if you look at the direction other companies in similar markets are going. . roland seems to be doing exactly the opposite thing to everyone else!

- I can understand if they were trying to be 'unique' but to be honest theyve just invented a boring product update which is incredibly lacking in new features

well its not that its lacking in new features, wits just that those chosen features are not really that useful....

If roland worked on getting this machine to be the ultimate portable groovebox that was still low in cost, then they would selling like peanuts...

Yeah, and a real useful pitch shift function, too!
