Hey there

I am writing because I can not do the following manipulation: I would like to play a beat from Ableton, and be able to add the effects of the sp-555 on top of it, so I can re-record an effect version of the beat. idk if i'm doing it right, but my monitors are connected to the sp-555 from the line out (scr). then I connected the line in of the sp on a Focusrite 2i4 sound card, which is connected to my computer. On ableton, I chose as input and output device the Focursite sound card, but it is the next step that I can't figure it out.

I was also wondering if there is any possibility to install the driver on mac OS X 10.11, cause there is only versions 'till 10.8 on roland website.

Thank you in advance for your help :D

(sorry for my english, I am French)

From what I gather you got it right so far, the line out from the SP goes into the monitors, and the line in on the sp should be coming in from the audio interface.
The next part you can do one of two ways:
I: Get a 1/4" cable and connect the headphone out from the sp to the focusrite mic input, and then setup a ableton audio channel for recording that input. Press the LINE-IN button on the sp so that its lit. Make sure you dont have monitoring on as that would cause feedback. Record away. This is the easiest way I think.
II: Press the LINE-IN button on the sp so that its lit. Press SAMPLING on the sp; then choose a pad and SAMPLING again. Play the beat on ableton, which will be recording to the pad on the sp at this point. Connect the CF card of the sp to your computer and export it through the SP-555 Wave Converter app (you can get this on Rolands website).

Thank you for your response. I almost figure it out how to do the trick

I use external audio effect on ableton so i can play a beat from there and it goes thru the sp. I have no memory card for the moment (command one, didnt worked, wait for another).
Without resampling, is there a way to apply an effect from the sp to my ableton track ? When i play the beat, the effects of the sp didnt work, except for the D Beam

Edit... sorry. I just finished reading up. My explanation was way off.

Here’s my guess. Hold effects assign and see if line in is illuminated... if not then press line in.
