Hey all...ordered my first sp555 and should be getting it on Monday. Wondering if there's a good spot online with quick tutorials for slicing up beats, etc? Also, is the sp555 capable of "auto chopping" a sample then placing spreading the "chops" among the 16 pads?
Much thanks!

it does not autochop but the software that comes with it might (sonar le). the 555 is dope, i was playing with one today at my local music store. there are some really nice features on it but it's not like the 606 which has autochop. welcome to the sp community.

I think if you get into the machine you will really love it. Only thing I hate about it is I have other responsibilities and dont get to play with it as often as I would like. Not really the 555s fault, though. As for the Sonar software, I dont know about the chopping question because since Ive had the 555 my desktop(the sonar friendly comp.) has been down and in shop. Manual chopping is not a BIG deal though. It takes a lil practice but whats wrong with a lil persistance? That will come through in your music down the road.

Yes, but buying anything higher than 512 is throwing your money away. You will never use more than that unless u got entire tracks on all your pads :)

Yeah, you really don't need more than 2Gbs. It's pointless mainly because of the fact that you can't trigger more samples than you have pads and banks..

2gb compactflash card is ok if you want to put some long loops into or some of your songs full sampled into some pads.

if you are using it with samples under like 10 sec. you scould buy a whole lot of 256 or 128mb cards...
