hi all, i'm having problems setting the correct tempo and getting the measure to end correctly so it loops without an "timing issue" and the end... i dunno if i explained it very well.

I'm playing drums and other instruments in correct rhythm with quantize off but when it gets to the end there's a problem when it restarts -- ie it'll double beat or something or there will be bad timing when it re-loops.

I'm not a musician, i don't really know how to count bars and beats and measures and stuff, is there any trick to it? Can i just play like a four bar drum pattern and then have the box automatically derive the tempo and measures from that? or is setting it first the only way?

Any help would be appreciated... I have good timing and am able to play the drums in the rhythm i want without screwing up... but i think not being to count tempo and measures (and set it correctly) is throwing me off a bit.

Thanks guys -- lovin the box so far, it really is easy to use :)

cant wait till i get my laptop back =)

A double beat usually happens when your drumsequence ( the stuff you do with the pads for a pattern ) is a bit longer (one beat longer) than the length of the pattern should be.

Example: 1 2 | 3 4 | 5 6 | 7 8 | -> this would correctly loop.

Example: 1 2 | 3 4 | 5 6 | 7 8 | 9
or 1 2 | 3 4 | 5 6 | 7 8 9 | -> this will get messy when it's a two bar loop...

I hope I'm not making things more complicated then they are... The easiest trick is probably to just count together with the metronome and the display should indicate how much 'pattern space' within a measure/bar you have got left.

yeah but the thing is that quantize makes it sound so robotic --- i'm trying to put life into the drums, it's hard to explain...

I know what cha mean. What you can try for now is using the 16th shuffle quantize. Set the shuffle to about 65 and it will sound alot more natural.
