Hi there, this week or the next i want to finally buy myself a sampler. i guess i already settled on getting an SP. after reading through a lot of stuff about both the 555 and the 404sx i am still not sure what to get. i am leaning towards the 555 but havent completely given up on the 404 either. that's why i am interested in your opinion: would any of you 555ers trade yours for the 404sx? if so what would be your reason to do so? i appreciate the 555 for its capabilities as an audio interface and the velocity sensitive pads. the 404 has way more sample time, is portable and some say it sounds better (?). thanks for helping me decide! |

i forgot. i would be using it solely for production purposes. hiphop and experimental electronic (mount kimbie like...) |

Never. I have too much stuff I do with it that the 404 just doesnt do. |

thanks but just keep in mind that my productions use a lot of stuff but http://littlesomalia.bandcamp.com/ is probably more representative of my 555 stuff. thats a guitarist to my kp3 to my sp555 in a live take then with some minor edits to make it sound all produced after the fact if you need help search this forum theres tons of stuff or just ask |

thanks, appreciate it! i wouldnt only the sp tho. just to get some ideas going. i would add stuff in live. so far i feel like it would integrate well. going to bid on one tomorrow. |

I'm in the same boat, which one to try and pick up. I decided on the 555, just because it has some extra features, but if push came to shove, and I found a 404sx for cheap, I could find myself grabbing that! Not too sure if I'd want to own them all(too much of a headache to set them all up to work together!), but having more than one sure sounds like fun! (I still own my 505) |

Had SP555 for years, got the 404sx as a companion....its cool but it would be the first to go in a heartbeat (on the trading thread at vintagesynth forums if anyone interested) |
