Ok, so I just got the 555, and I'm using it as the audio interface to record into Sonar. For example, let' s say I record drums on track 1. Then I want to record vocals on track 2., so I hook the mic up to the 555 and record into sonar, so I am listening to track 1 (the drums) and doing a vocal on track 2, when I play it back, it has recorded both the drums and vocals on track 2, thus not giving me a clean vocal. I am thinking this is due to some kind of setting in the 555, because I was using a previous audio interface and I never had this problem, but I' cant figure it out.
Is anyone out there using the 555 that can help me?

are u trying to record them both at the same time ? If so, thats your problem. You can only do one at a time with the 555. Otherwise its a software issue. and im not real familiar with sonar.

how ar eyou 'listening to the drums' while you record the vocal? is it possible some of the sound of the drums playing over your speakers/headphones/whatever is getting picked up by the mic?

I am listening to the already recorded track through headphones. I should clarify that even when I am not using the mic, this still happens. For example, if i record drums on track 1, from the 555. then go to track 2 and record a bassline for the 555, then track 2 has both sounds on it.

ahh.. I think I just realized your problem. If your listening thru the 555 while your recording u gotta turn off the input from the PC via USB...I dont remember how to do it off hand but its in the manual. But ya, basically the sound is coming back into the 555 and recording itself. That should fix your problem.

I think you'll need the auio from the usb into the 555 to be able to hear it as you record, what you need to do is change the usb out put so it is direct from the input (cancel+line in+control knob 3, i think). This way you can still hear the output from the computer, but only the things connected to the mic/linein sockets will be recorded...
