So I have had a feeling for a while now that I if I had a second one of these beasts I can resample through two MFX and keep the samples trim and in time and I'll be able to hear the sample of what I'm trying to 'bang my beats on' . So I saw one cheap on ebay and took the plunge and if it arrives in tack and good condition I'll have two linked ins to outs and outs to ins.

So my question to the forum is what else can I acheive with two of these samplers that I might not have been able to do with one?

I´m doing something similar with the GS-10 in a mixerless setup (just gotta be careful with feedback loops and stuff).

Anyway, most obvious advantages: you´ll have a 2-track sequencer, sort of; 2x loop capture and Ext. Only with FX; moar of everything?! Also loading backups on one while playing stuff on the other is always a nice thing to have.

Sorry for the late (and probably useless) reply.

Forgot about this: technicalities aside (D/A and A/D conversion + sample compression and stuff), you can now finally record in full duplex (although you´ll probably not need that having two of them).

Thanks for the response - I think the best usages I've found so for effects layering and tweaking the two effects in real time (without recording and rerecording to layer).

And the 2nd unit is useful to grab the effects processed samples in a perfect loop (as resample wont do that).

I think when I get some performance ready loops It will be useful to have the background stuff on one sampler and the lead stuff on the other so I can layer and apply timing effects to each layer separately.

Now you're playing with power! :D

How did you like the results of two 555's?

It's all good if you sold the 2nd.

Yeah I sold the second one. Dude get an RC505 rather than a second 555!
The two 555's didn't really give me much more than what a tape recorder would do.

The loop capture (once I cracked it) was the thing that I wanted more of from the 555.

So the idea of 5 loop captures in sync was too much to ignore and I got an RC505.

Then I had a son and so haven't dug into the depth of the new machine. But it appears to be everything that I wanted in there somewhere (menus menus menus).

The Rc505 does have the following limitations though

1) The first loop sets the length of the whole. So a solo over a loop needs prep in recording an empty loop at full length first I guess.

2) Some of the default settings are odd and the it takes a little while with the manual to dig out the settings you want. You can then apparently save them as a default set, but that's as far as I've gone.

I see no road blocks though with using the SP to build and the RC to layer.

I'm just trying to save up FOR a 555 right now! Kinda hard when my job slowed down just a bit, but we're supposed to get cooking before summer, working 12 hr days back to back. Until then, I'm just waiting, and scrounging what I can.

I've seen the RC505 online, but I assume I'd have to special order it or eBay for one. But it did look wicked. If I find it too tricky to locate, I'd probably just get the Volca sample.
