The SP-555 acts as a sound card. You can hook it up to your comp via the USB.

My challenge is that now I want to use another sound card at the same time and be able to record audio in via its inputs and monitor its output through the SP-555. Is this possible?

Windows: Yes - ASIO drivers only work for one device at a time AFAIK, so use Directsound or whatever for the other one and you're set.

Linux/Unix/OS: Supposedly easier to do this with Jack and you can aggregate audio devices on Mac (not sure how well it works).

*Apparently it is possible to aggregate audio devices on Windows with asio4all, I haven't tried or seen it working though.

on mac, you can aggregate audio interfaces in the audio/midi setup application, in the utilities folder. fiddling with this, you can use the ins and outs of all your connected interfaces as if they were one unit. worked for me.

Thanks for the responses on this. I have a PC. I tried to install Jack, but the instructions arent that clear for WIndows peeps, so I gave up. I tried using different audio drivers in my setup (Direct Sound, ASIO, ASIO4All, etc), but no dice. Man...if only the SP were setup do record and resample at the same time (besides just the 303).

I'm sure you have figured it out ,since posted in June, but the asio4all and dx drivers should work...I've done this in the past with sp-606 and an maudio 24/96 audiocard...However ,there where many glitches&dropouts until I set the appropriate buffers...
What where you trying to connect specifically?Maybe a small mixer would be more convenient.
