Hey sp-forums, new member here. I came to ask a few questions to those of you who are knowledgeable about the sp202 Dr.Sample.

How long does the Sp 202 usually last before breaking?

I've hear that without a memory card, you can store only 2 out of the 4 possible sample banks. Is this true? Also, will I lose those 2 sample banks if I turn off my machine?

Will this AC adapter work for an Sp 202 that's currently missing an adapter?

Planning on, of course, making music with the Sp 202, particularity Plunderphonics, and being a bit low on budget, I can't afford a dj mixer for boosting certain aspects of the audio I'll be sampling(from Vinyl records). Should I be concerned, like will there be bad audio quality?

Thanks for reading and hopefully answering. If my questions are answered with the answers I'm hoping for, I very well could be a new owner of a Sp 202 :)

Sp 202s are not known to fail, if you treat it well you should get good use out of them.

The SP-202 is really a limited machine.

It can be operated using batteries (which is how I use it) and is increasingly becoming more and more uncommon.

If you're up for the challenge of working around it's limited capabilities and are able to embrace them... Then I'd say go for it.

Otherwise, I'd say you're better off investing in some software.

I've had mine since they first came out and it still works fine other than the fact it doesn't run off the mains anymore....only batteries....

I wouldn't recommend one on its own for making beats personally....its nice as part of a setup but you'll want something with a sequencer....

there are lots of better options out there these days...

Thanks for all the responses!

I know the SP 202 isn't ideal, but it's one of the few samplers out there that's really in my budget.

This is seriously not a plug.

Here are some songs I made with the 202 and effects from the 303:

https://soundcloud.com/vivian-18586085/space-cadet
https://soundcloud.com/vivian-18586085/billy-and-mandy (no effects)
https://soundcloud.com/vivian-18586085/carved-out (no effects)
The 202 is limited, but also powerful.

DONT JUST DO LOFI BULLSHIT, DONT JUST SAMPLE JAZZ, DONT JUST SAMPLE ANIME AND OTHER ASIAN SHIT. THE 202 IS POWERFUL, DONT USE IT LIKE AN IDIOT. FUCK NINJA TAPES.

Vivian Neezhnies- what do you mean by a plug?

Also, don't worry I have big plans for my SP if I get it. I plan to make music like the Avlanches or Dj Shadow, if you've heard of them
