I just got my sp-555, and i can't really get into it. Some features seem illogical, such as the effect feature, where you only can have one effect at a time. And the wave converter seems idiotic. The whole product just seems outdated.

So i need a good reason to keep it. Can you help me? :)

Ive been on the sp 555 for a couple of years
I had the mc 909 and sp 404 before i got it.
imo the sp 555 has functional features effects and
memory are good the learning curve and the workflow
takes some gettin used to but once you got that
down i think its pretty intuitive. I scored two full length films
and a couple of short films with it too. I even get around with it
doing live sets. Its just a matter of preference and knowing
your equipment i guess.

i think learning your way around the sp is half the artform
itself thats just me tho

What's illogical about 1 effect at a time? If you always want an effect on a sound, resample it with that effect. Why would a wave converter be idiotic? If you've got a wav or aiff that you want to load via USB/card, it's a pretty useful addition. If you don't like a feature like that, fine, it won't make or break the 555. It's a standalone sampler, not a well designed midi controller (think MPC Ren/studio/fly, Maschine, Push etc).

If it seems outdated, why did you bother to buy it in the first place?

Really you're the one who should justify to yourself why you should keep it or pass it on. Honestly you're not gonna get much sympathy. Just give that 555 to me, I'll treat it well.

555 is a beast, op.

Some machines take time to learn. I would assume the 555 would be one of these. I'm trying to learn the mpc4K and it's alien to me right now but when i figure it out it's gonna be glorious.

Just like you with your 555. Keep that thing (or hell, give it to me).
