I think why most producers love their MPCs are the pads, the sequencer, data storage and the way you can output the different channels. Let's face it, something most sps don't got. If you're going to add a MPC to your sp404, you can probably use the mpc to trigger the pads on your sp, and you also should have better data storage with a MPC (zip discs or HD). If nothing else, your mpc will be the master and your sp404 will be slaved with just a midi cable.
