I've just picked up one of these for a mate. I had a little go on it and its well worth the money for the autopitch and autosync alone - I'm almost tempted to be greedy and keep it for myself.

Man how I wish the 404 could timestretch as well as the Sampletrack.

yes, timestretch is cool; have you tried the pitch shift? and don't forget that this beast can resample patterns too  ...

Yeah pitch shifting is another thing I wish the 404 could do as well as the Sampletrak.

Hadn't got to the resampling patterns part in the manual, holy crap all this functionality for £50. The Sampletrak forum is cool too guys, another nice place to be.

those of you who rock the sampletrak how is the responsiveness of the pads? like the 303?

They are quite responsive. Think of them more like half an MPC pad, but just not as good. The pads don't have much travel, but just enough to know you're hitting them. The 303 pads are more squishy and button like while the sampletrak is flatter and more pad like. Hope that helps.

i like sp303 pads.
st224 pads are not very different, but more rubber thing like. a little bit stronger. have you try the akai xr20? is like that material but a bit hader (and not sensitive pads)

ok, dragging this one back up...got a few more questions:
1. can you resample the internal sounds and the external input like on the 303?
2. what kind of adapter does it use? i found one for $50, but it has no AC adapter.
3. how hard are the memory cards to come up on?

1. Yes

2. 9v 300mA. Most music shops carry compatable ones or you could hit up radioshack and get a universal adapter.

3. You can still find 16mb cards online for $25 shipped in the states. Mine took only 2 days to receive it. For my 2nd sampletrak I was able to find a new in box card for $15. The 224 can only take 4mb, 8mb, or 16mb cards. Hit up the 224 forums and I've posted a link for the online store that carries the cards. A few peeps have also got their card there with good results.

dragging up this post for a question, if any of you can help -
i've been looking around for a sampletrak to do pitch shifting and timestretching, and found one for sale (100 euros, including 10 memory cards, not sure what size)...

i was wondering if the memory cards that work on the sp303 can be used on the sampletrak and vice versa? are they the same voltage/type?

also i read the sampletrak only takes the 4mb variety, but in formal's posts here you say 16mb also works...

thanks
