Has anybody tried beaterator yet? Just wondering if it's worth shelling out $60 for a PSP and to get the game.

I've used PSPseq, Rhythm and all the main iphone beat making apps. From the looks of beaterator it looks to be like the most complete package for me (sample based beats). Right now Sunvox, a tracker + modular synth, is my favorite iphone app but sometimes it's too complex and cumbersome to use on the iphone.

60$ for a PSP-1000 (the one I got too actually) is a steal. You can buy Metal Gear Portable Ops, God of War Chains of Olympus, Final Fantasy Crisis Core, Killzone: Liberation, Field Commander and the new Metal Gear when it drops and it would already be worth grabbing a PSP for. :)

I haven't tried Beaterator yet, but I do plan to. Just haven't had the time to go to the store and score a copy.

I had a psp about a year ago, but sold it. The games didn't impress me much. I'm basically only interested in beaterator. Phemox if you decide to buy it you should also install it to a memory stick. If you run the game from the UMD loading samples takes a while, but if you run the game from a mem stick then there are hardly any wait times.

But Beaterator comes on a UMD disc, right? Hmmm... how do I get it onto a mem stick or is that an option you'll get?

I was actually toying with the idea of selling my PSP and all the games, the mini-camera and so on. Mainly because apart from the games I already got and played, there really isn't much that would warrant keeping it.

Also the only times I play on my PSP is on holidays... :P

I'm going to wait and see if the PSP Go! manages to take off and cause a new wave of good games, but I sort of doubt it will.

Sony probably should make a PSP 2.

I'm in the final boss stage of GOW-Chains right now. Such a good game. I've been looking for MG Portable OPs for a long time, and can't find it anywhere (and don't wanna spend $8 billion dollars on it).

I will pro'lly check out beaterator, but it really looks like it could be a variation on the (VERY LUMPY) traxxpad "game" that rockstar put out.

Yeah, the God of War game is definitely one of the best PSP games. If you got the chance do check out Metal Gear Portable Ops, it's worth it. :)

There was a pretty good Tekken on PSP. If your into RPG/Strategy check out Jeanne d'Arc. Patapon was fun too.

Right on, Hema. I've been looking for Jeanne D'Arc and yeah, the Tekken (Dark Resurrection?) looks great.

The PSP is sooooo rad, but yeah, the games kinda lag behind the technology for the most part (but the above are all the ones that come recommended).

Yeah the developers don't seem to use the full potential of the PSP. I think they even have some the hits from PSOne up on PSN for the PSP. And yeah it was Tekken: Dark Resurrection, also don't sleep on Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max if your a fighting game dork (i am). Y'all got me wishing I still had my PSP now.

Almost forgot GTA: Chinatown Wars is out PSP now too.

Oh, right that's true. Chinawars is said to be great too. Don't have that one yet.

You can't go wrong with the two other GTA PSP games either, but they're not flawless.

New gear goes first, but GTA: Chinawars is definitely on my wishlist.

God of War Chains of Olympus is quite definitely the best out for PSP game, also in my top 10 best games I've ever played. Not sure where it would end up, but it's there alright. :p

So, anyone spent a good amount of time messing with Beaterator? I know they're two very different beasts but is the workflow too bad compared to the Korg DS-10? (I haven't messed with the DS-10 either but it does seem to have a very well designed user interface = fast workflow.)

i too would be interested to hear any reports from beaterator users. For example, does it have an analogue modelled synth?

It has a 3 osc + noise synth and from what I gather you can use up to 8, one instance on each channel. How good it sounds was on the list of my follow up questions. The bad part IIRC is that there's no way to edit the parameters while it's playing and you can't play it live. There's an in depth article on CDM (http://createdigitalmusic.com/2009/09/03/inside-beaterator-rockstar-games-new-psp-beat-maker-with-gory-technical-bits/#more-7285) but I think it was made before the release.
